Drive corporate-wide change and lead a team of experts to shape the future of environmental and utility management for the City of Edmonton!

The General Supervisor, Environment and Utilities Management is responsible for leading utility management and the corporate ISO 14001 environmental due diligence and continual improvement management system on behalf of the Executive Leadership Team at the City of Edmonton. This role leads a team of technical experts who provide services to the organization by identifying environmental risk, opportunities, compliance obligations, and expectations, as well as developing policy, controls, corporate guidelines and corporate wide programs.

The General Supervisor must understand and lead the changing utility needs of the corporation in becoming climate ready and emission neutral. Additionally, the General Supervisor must be able to identify significant environmental risks and opportunities for the corporation and determine the appropriate course of action.

What will you do?

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the group maintaining the City of Edmonton's ISO 14001 certified environmental management system and utility management
  • Coordinate and engage with City Council, internal and external partners to establish and lead processes to ensure the City of Edmonton's operations and service delivery sustains and conserves the environment
  • Establish a client focused service delivery model for Enviso and utility management, as well as a commitment to providing quality services through the Enviso shared accountability model
  • Demonstrate strong delegation skills, effectively assigning tasks and ensuring follow-through and accountability across the team
  • Lead the development of environmental strategic planning
  • Monitor ongoing status and performance of all related projects, ensuring standards, budgets and timelines are met
  • Establish and lead processes to continually explore and evaluate environmental and utility risks and opportunities for the City of Edmonton and update the System accordingly
  • Build new and innovative collaborative partnerships with external agencies, orders of government and community organizations
  • Actively participate in the development of environmental improvement strategies and programs for the corporation in alignment with corporate priorities
  • Anticipate business opportunities, influence policy, planning and initiatives, and foster a culture of accountability through performance measurement
  • Integrate multi-disciplinary teams to work collaboratively with partners supporting corporate priorities
