Description

The City of Edmonton seeks up to two Communications Coordinators to support the City Operations department. The positions would support the Fleet and Facilities Services and Parks and Roads Services portfolios.

The Fleet and Facility Services branch ensures City vehicles, transit buses, and essential City operations equipment are well maintained, safe, and reliable for use on a daily basis. The branch also proactively maintains City-owned facilities and provides custodial services for buildings such as recreation centers, police stations, libraries, City-owned office towers, and transit shelters. This includes maintenance services at facilities such as park spray decks, splash pads, and river valley footbridges.

Parks and Roads Services is responsible for services and assets that support mobility and activity in our city. The branch ensures that streets and roads, infrastructure assets, parks, trees, and boulevards remain accessible, attractive, and safe.

As a Communications Coordinator, you support communications strategies for these client areas, ensuring cohesive support for corporate, departmental, and branch initiatives. By collaborating with client areas, you will transform data into stories and support the implementation of comprehensive communication plans.

Your role will involve crafting key messages, producing high-quality content across a variety of platforms, and orchestrating external and internal communications products and events. Your ability to build and nurture stakeholder relationships will enhance our communication efforts, delivering clear, consistent, and compelling messaging that aligns with our organizational goals and maximizes our impact.

What you will do:

  • Support Communications Advisors in developing and implementing communications plans, including producing digital content, writing communications materials, and coordinating special events, media, and publications while liaising with program areas
  • Draft and develop a range of written materials such as news releases, blogs, newsletters, and social media and web content; and manage the revision and approval process for copy and messaging
  • Develop and execute event plans, including creating collateral and educational materials, managing digital outreach, and coordinating event logistics and stakeholder activities
  • Create videos, take photos, and develop materials that support communications activities
