LEAD TRADING ANALYST

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

This role requires strong operational precision, deep knowledge of the trade lifecycle, and a forward-thinking approach to workflow automation. A successful Lead Trading Analyst will bring both trading experience and technical proficiency to help streamline operations and improve accuracy across the platform. The role also requires the candidate to manage a team of trading analysts and be a point of escalation for daily trade issues.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Execute and delegate equity and fixed income trades to custodians and external brokers, ensuring timely and accurate settlement.
  • Investigate and escalate unusual or suspicious order activity and ensure regulatory compliance throughout the trade lifecycle.
  • Coordinate trade allocations with external brokers, counterparties, and custodians to ensure consistency across systems.
  • Reconcile executed trades across internal systems, custodians, and counterparties; research and resolve any trade discrepancies.
  • Review and validate trade confirmations and booking accuracy for equity and fixed income products.
  • Analyze and maintain compliance reports including MSRB, OATS, and TRACE for fixed income trading.
  • Monitor and respond to corporate actions, margin alerts, and low cash balances in client portfolios.
  • Address margin calls and cash shortfalls through proactive communication and resolution.
  • Build and maintain Excel-based tools and macros to support trade execution, reconciliation, and reporting workflows.
  • Design and implement process automation solutions using Power Automate, SQL, and Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Collaborate with Technology Team to test, validate, and roll out trading system enhancements.
  • Document and maintain risk, control and trading desk procedures in alignment with firm and regulatory standards.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to eliminate manual work and enhance data accuracy across the desk.
  • Manage workflow, establish priorities, and determine work assignments for team members.
  • Provide feedback on individual and team accomplishments and areas of improvement to Director of Operations/Trading.
  • Participate in various Client Service meetings, as a representative of the Trading Team.
  • Manage and lead the trading analysts on the trading team which includes handling daily escalation of issues and handling performance issues and development

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Series 7 and 55 or 57
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in trade execution, trade support, or operations within an investment management firm, hedge fund, or broker-dealer
  • Minimum 5 years of experience using Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel skills with macros and VBA
  • Minimum 3 years of experience executing or supporting equity and fixed income trades across retail or institutional clients
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working on technology-driven process enhancements or automation initiatives within a trading or operations environment
  • Minimum 1 year of experience leading other individual(s) on a team
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with SQL, JSON, or similar tools used for data integration or reporting

Additional Qualifications

  • Series 63 and 24 preferred
  • Ability to serve as a bridge between trading and technology, translating front-office needs into actionable requirements for developers, and playing a key role in testing, validating, and deploying system enhancements.
  • Hands-on experience with trade reconciliation platforms, such as DTCC, Omgeo, or custodian-specific portals, as well as order management systems (OMS) like Bloomberg AIM, Eze OMS, or similar tools used for trade routing, execution, and post-trade workflows.
  • Familiarity with third-party trade matching tools, such as OASYS, CTM, or TradeSuite, including resolving mismatches and ensuring clean affirmation and confirmation workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and triage multiple operational and trading issues while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to improve operational processes by identifying inefficiencies and implementing automation using Excel macros, SQL, or low-code tools like Power Automate.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with compliance, operations, and portfolio management teams to ensure trades are booked, reported, and monitored correctly.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, particularly when translating technical requirements or explaining complex reconciliation issues to non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation
Starting base salary: $111,408 - 189,738 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
