DATA QUALITY SPECIALIST
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? The Data Quality Specialist is an experienced data analyst responsible for evaluating large dataset for completeness and accuracy. The Data Quality Specialist performs data analysis, profiling, evaluation and issues root-cause analysis of the data in diverse platforms including MS SQL, Oracle, Informatica and third party application. The Specialist works closely with business analysts and subject matter experts in regulatory reporting teams, different business lines and IT.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Participates in and leads discussions with business teams to identify and document data quality rules.
- Writes SQL queries based on business requirements to evaluate data for completeness, accuracy, conformity, validity and timeliness.
- Utilizes programmatic and quantitative methods to identify patterns and relationships in large data sets, as well as apply statistical and other data-driven analysis to address intelligence questions about quality of data.
- Documents data quality rules and related metadata.
- Writes technical specifications for data quality rules developed by the off-shore team.
- Performs root-cause analysis of data errors.
- Facilitates remediation of data errors.
- Develops reports and tools for effective monitoring, visualization and interpretation of data quality activities (Tableau, Excel, and SharePoint).
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience with providing data analysis or data quality function and operations
- Master's Degree in a related field is preferred
- 5 years of banking experience preferred
- Knowledge of information access and delivery methods, analytics applications and tool portfolio, data sourcing and integration methods. Understanding of data warehouse, ETL, data cleansing, and architecture
- Experience working and effectively collaborating with reporting, operations and technology teams
- Strong critical thinking ability and problem resolution skills
- Ability to work independently with light to moderate supervision in various areas of responsibility
- Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal/written communication skills and strong project management skills
- Strong proficiency with SQL language and its variation among popular databases
- Experience with relational databases
- Skilled at analyzing complicated SQL statements
- Knowledge of best practices when dealing with data profiling and data analysis
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU? Compensation Starting base salary: $101,231 - $172,355 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
