Director, Procurement Center of Excellence

Type of Employment: Permanent

THE ROLE 

Reporting to the Head of Global Procurement GNFR and Transformation within our Global Procurement GNFR department, The Procurement Excellence Director is a key leadership role within the Goods Not for Resale (GNFR) team responsible for driving strategic procurement initiatives within the organization across North America, Canda, and Europe. This role requires a dynamic individual with a deep understanding of procurement best practices, processes, category management, and strategic sourcing at a global level.

The Procurement Excellence Director will lead the development and implementation of best practices, processes, and tools across the GNFR landscape to optimise procurement operations, enhance efficiency, and drive cost savings by establishing a Global Procurement Center of Excellence responsible for Procure to Pay (P2P), Global Sourcing Desk across all GNFR categories, Spend Analytics & Reporting, Catalogue mgt., invoice control, e-auctions, system implementation and maintenance of all Procurement applications in addition to operating a Procurement Support function located in Riga, Latvia and managing any future BPO partners.

This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams globally to align procurement strategies with business objectives and drive continuous improvement across the procurement function to meet the overall ambition of establishing a World Class procurement function and practice that supports both topline growth at low costs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO 

Here are ways that you'll help make journeys better:  

  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement procurement best practice strategies aligned with the overall global business objectives. Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and risk mitigation.

  • Process Optimization: Lead efforts to streamline procurement processes, from sourcing to contract management including procure to pay and supplier performance evaluation. Identify inefficiencies and implement solutions to enhance operational effectiveness.

  • Global Procurement Centre of Excellence: Build and run a best in class Global Procurement Centre of Excellence responsible for Procure to Pay (P2P), Global Sourcing Desk across all GNFR categories, Spend Analytics & Reporting, Catalogue mgt., invoice control, e-auctions

  • Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure procurement performance. Monitor and analyse data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Develop and implement action plans to address performance gaps.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, operations, and quality assurance, to align procurement strategies with business needs. Partner with cross-functional teams to drive consensus and achieve strategic objectives.

  • Talent Development: Build and develop a high-performing procurement team. Provide coaching, mentorship, and training to enhance team capabilities. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. Identify and mitigate procurement risks, including supply chain disruptions, compliance issues, and geopolitical factors.

  • Technology Enablement: Evaluate and implement procurement technologies and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Leverage automation, data analytics, and digital solutions to drive process improvements and decision-making.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive global experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management preferably in the retail industry.

  • Strong leadership skills with proven experience in leading global cross-functional teams and driving change initiatives.

  • Deep understanding of procurement best practices, processes, and tools.

  • Excellent negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify insights, and drive data-driven decisions.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced global environment and deliver results under tight deadlines.

  • Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPIM, CPSM).

  • Experience in implementing procurement technologies (e.g., e-procurement, spend analytics, supplier management) is a must.

  • Experience working with BPO providers.

  • Advanced Experience with MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word preferred, and more procurement systems such as Ariba, Jaggaer, Coupa or similar.

  • Self-driven personality with strong ability to secure execution.

  • Willing to work non-traditional working hours, due to global time-zones.

  • Extensive travel required.
