JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Corporate Accounting Supervisor, the Corporate Staff Accountant is responsible for compiling financial information and performing accounting functions for Charter Schools USA and/or subsidiaries within established deadlines.

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs bank reconciliations.
  • Prepares and posts journal entries.
  • Approve vendor bills in accordance with provided budgets.
  • Performs Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
  • Evaluate Income Statement monthly for accuracy and correct any financial discrepancies.
  • Create and update Excel worksheets as part of the ledger reconciliations, using advanced Excel features.
  • Review and reconcile AP/AR Variances between various entities.
  • Regular evaluation of Receivables and estimated payment status. This will require being the lead in monthly meetings with corresponding team members to collaborate on cash planning & collection.
  • Assist Controller in cash forecasting and projections for corporate entities.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers for all company transactions. This involves ensuring all financial data is entered correctly into the company's accounting system in a timely matter.
  • Interacts with various departments to obtain needed information for timely month end close.
  • AD Hoc projects or reporting as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or related field.
  • 2-5 years related experience.
  • Computer Basics -- MS Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Skilled in Excel at the intermediate/advanced level
  • Experience with intracompany transactions a plus
  • Oracle (NetSuite) preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment characteristics listed below are representative of the environment the employee will encounter:

  • Usual office working conditions.
  PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • No physical exertion required.
  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with CSUSA salary and benefit policy. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by Charter Schools USA.

 

FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY

Job is exempt from the minimum wage and overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

 

EVALUATION

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Charter Schools USA's policy.
