As a HR Compliance Specialist, you will be under the supervision of the Sr. Manager Legal Services and Compliance, the Compliance Specialist will ensure the organization remains up to date on compliance requirements in accordance with company, state, and federal regulations. The Specialist will develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures that keep a company's processes, and school sites operating in a legal and ethical manner.

How You Will Impact Education

Instruction/Education Responsibilities

  • Use HRIS systems and processes to ensure compliance workflows and associated documents, including but not limited to job descriptions, offers, licensure, resumes, applications, background checks are in compliance with hiring procedures.
  • Works with HRIS to ensure data integrity and confidentiality across all systems and personnel files.
  • Responsible for maintaining and auditing personnel files in ADP.
  • Assists with annual personnel file audits relating to 401K, and Finance.
  • Keep organization informed of pending industry changes, trends, and best practices that may impact the organization.
  • Research changes in federal and state laws and regulations and analyze their impact to the organization.
  • Responsible for drafting policies, departmental SOP's, and processes to improve the compliance posture of the organization and functional departments.
  • Maintain Policy and Procedure depository.
  • Promotes employee safety, welfare, and safety best practices in coordination with the Worker's Compensation Specialist.
  • Responsible for Bureau of Data Statistics review and audits.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Company's Compliance Platform (Safe Schools).
  • Assists in compiling, reviewing, and organizing evidence and other information for internal hearings, and meetings, as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the oversight and distribution of Federal and State Labor Poster to the organization.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of OSHA and company-mandated reports on all accidents, injuries, and illnesses.
  • Performs data entry/record keeping activities by entering information promptly and accurately in various formats of databases and spreadsheets.
  • Assist in developing training content as it relates to HR Compliance.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Outstanding communication (both written and verbal) and ability to communicate with all levels of the company including Senior Management.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and problem solve.
  • Strong time management, project management, workload management and organizational skills.
  • Must have a strong sense of ownership, teamwork, responsibility, and initiative.

  • Knowledge of company policies, and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, simultaneous, cross-functional workstreams (Payroll, HRIS, Benefits, Employee Relations).
  • Knowledge of MS Office and Office equipment such as photocopier, scanner, etc.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in such fields as Human Resources, Legal Studies, or Business from an accredited college or university.
  • 3+ years of prior Human Resource Experience/or Paralegal
  • K-12 education experience is preferred.
  • Experience with policy writing is preferred.
  • Understanding of Legal Terminology required.
  • May perform other duties assigned.
