Description
Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are sterile and ready for use.
- Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and other supplies as needed.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure to minimize the risk of infection.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and other members of the surgical team to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
- Monitor patients' vital signs during surgery and report any changes or abnormalities to the surgical team.
- Assist with patient positioning and draping to provide optimal exposure for the surgeon.
- Handle specimens obtained during surgery and ensure proper labeling and transport to the laboratory.
- Document all procedures accurately in medical records. Skills:
- Strong patient care skills, with the ability to provide compassionate and attentive care to patients before, during, and after surgery.
- Proficiency in suturing techniques, ensuring precise closure of incisions with minimal scarring.
- Knowledge of pediatric surgical procedures and the unique considerations involved in caring for pediatric patients.
- Understanding of human anatomy and physiology, allowing for accurate interpretation of surgical procedures and identification of potential complications.
- Familiarity with medical records systems to accurately document patient information and maintain confidentiality.
- Experience working in a hospital setting, with knowledge of hospital protocols and procedures.
- Ability to analyze situations quickly and make informed decisions in high-pressure environments such as acute care or critical care settings.
- Familiarity with ambulatory surgery center operations, including efficient patient flow and adherence to safety protocols.
Must be certified to work in Oregon:
- Certification as a surgical technologist issued by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or successful completion of the CAAHEP or ABHES educational program within the past twelve months.

$38.0 / Hourly - $38.0 / Hourly
