- The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility of patients for a designated time frame and to provide care, specifically in the Heart & Vascular Institute.
- The patient population consists of those requiring an invasive cardiology or invasive radiology study.
- The Registered Radiologic Technologist will assist the physician in all procedures and provide a valuable service to the patient and the team.

- Performs on call duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs.
- Takes late shift duties as assigned to meet department needs.
- Unit Specific Information
- Essential Functions - Performs core responsibilities as a Radiologic Technologist such as administering contrast material, assisting with inventory, checking patient identification, compiling clinical information, documenting procedures, and following procedural nurse guidance.
- Department-Specific Job Functions - Working around and maintaining a sterile field during procedures, administrating and withholding contrast and treatment as appropriate, assessing patients for allergies, and pulling supplies for procedures.
- Cardiac Cath Lab Work - Involves procedures like left heart cath with or without coronary stenting, right heart cath, pericardiocentesis, vascular access under sterile procedures, structural heart procedures (TAVR, Watchman, Mitraclip, Triclip, ASD/PFO, CardioMEMs), hybrid peripheral vascular work, and using adjunctive tools (IVUS, FFR/iFR, Lithotripsy, Laser, Rota, Impella, IABP, OCT, CTO).
- Additional Details
- Administers contrast material (when applicable), according to physician's request, by means of existing IV line or by performing venipuncture and placing IV line; recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.
- All functions and duties will be under the direct supervision of a physicist or dosimetrist.
- Assists with inventory/supplies.
- Checks for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position.
- Compiles pertinent clinical information pertaining to lab, pathology, etc.
- Assists in instruction of new staff as necessary.
- Documents accurately and completely.
- Explains procedure to patient and provides for patient care- including comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality.
- Accurately informs procedural nurse of correct doses of intra-procedural medications, radiation and sponge/sharp counts.
