Job Description:
The research assistant (RA) will assist in conducting two studies. The first involves testing the feasibility of a continuous alcohol monitor and includes both laboratory and field-based components (i.e., ecological momentary assessment). The second study is an national online study of perinatal mental health and substance use. Work activities involve managing recruitment; conducting in-person and on-line research sessions, including alcohol administration, biosample collection, and interviews with study participants; participant tracking and retention; programming remote data collection measures; managing online surveys and datafiles; traveling within ~25 miles of Providence (or RA's home) to deliver study materials to participants; and managing participant payments. The RA is expected to collaborate with project staff to maintain variable directories and other project documentation, conduct library research as needed, and assemble materials for IRB modifications and progress reports. The RA will be required to have their own form of transportation and will be compensated for the mileage.
Job Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field and 1 to 2 years of research experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Competencies
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to multitask and prioritize effort to meet project goals
Openness to and interest in learning new skills
The ability to work independently and collaboratively on a research team.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
Transportation to research sites is required.
Experience in programming online surveys (e.g. Qualtrics) is preferred.
Possess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community
