Sr Product Manager – Mainframe Software Development Tools

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Product Manager to lead our portfolio of mainframe software development tools. In this strategic position, you will drive product vision, strategy, and execution while serving as the crucial link between customer needs and technical implementation.  This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of mainframe software development at a time when modernization initiatives are transforming the industry


Here is how, through this exciting role, YOU will contribute to BMC's and your own success:

  • Develop and execute a compelling product vision and roadmap aligned with corporate objectives and market demands
  • Translate complex technical requirements into clear product specifications and user stories
  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends and competitive positioning opportunities
  • Partner with engineering teams to define, prioritize, and refine product requirements
  • Leverage DevOps expertise to enhance product capabilities and streamline development workflows
  • Analyze product performance metrics to drive continuous improvement
  • Spearhead go-to-market strategies in collaboration with marketing and sales teams
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to inform product decisions

To ensure you're set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:

  • 8+ years of product management experience with demonstrated success in mainframe software development tools
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; MBA advantageous
  • Professional certification in Product Management preferred
  • Proven track record of successful product launches and sustainable growth
  • Deep technical knowledge of mainframe environments (z/OS) and programming languages including COBOL, PL/I, HLASM, CICS, DB2, z/OS Unix (USS), zLinux, and Java
  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices, SDLC methodologies, and DevOps principles
  • Experience with AI-augmented developer tools and their integration into traditional mainframe workflows
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies and product management best practices
  • Experience conducting user research and applying UX principles to technical products
  • Data-driven decision-making approach with strong analytical capabilities
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to engage diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with globally distributed teams
  • Flexibility to align with North American business hours while coordinating with development teams in India

The annual base salary range represents the low and high end of the BMC salary range for this position. Actual salaries depend on a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training, licensure, and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. 

The range listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits.

At BMC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at /near the top of the range. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $111,525 - $185,875
