Position Summary
The Psychology Department at Bellevue College is seeking applications for an ongoing pool of adjunct faculty interested in teaching psychology courses on a part-time basis. These are temporary faculty positions, typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.

Quarterly remuneration for 5-credit lecture class is $5,716.52 - $6,968.62 (base salary). Compensation is prorated based on type and duration of assignments. Bellevue College can offer additional credits next term based on feedback and performance however there is no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.
Individuals newly hired to Adjunct Professor group at the college are placed at the minimum rate per union bargaining agreement. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.
Generous benefits package for eligible employees is offered through Washington State plans that includes multiple medical, dental, life and disability coverage choices for employees and dependents; choices of retirement and deferred compensation plans; paid personal leave plan; transit program, reduced tuition, employee discounts and memberships, etc. Eligible employees are faculty who work a combined load of at least 50% at Bellevue College and other Washington State public institutions of higher education for two consecutive quarters are eligible for health and dental insurance at the start of the second consecutive quarter.
In addition to teaching, faculty maintains office hours and may participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

About the DepartmentThe Psychology Department at Bellevue College values student-centered teaching and learning. We serve a diverse student body, offering first-year and second-year level courses in Psychology. Included in the Psychology department's many courses are General Psychology, Social Psychology, Lifespan Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, and Positive Psychology. These courses are offered in multiple teaching modalities, including online, hybrid, and face-to-face classes. In addition, we encourage our faculty to develop new curriculum that serves our diverse student population. - Ability to teach on campus and online, as dictated by program need, course schedule, and enrollment demand. Some classes meet daily, while others meet twice per week.
- Ability to be available to students outside of class periodically to engage students in active learning and provide students timely feedback about their work.
- Ability to work with peers to maintain high standards with course content, and adhere to program assessment practices and policies.
- Ability to participate in student success efforts and assessment tasks.
- Master's degree in Psychology, or in a related field with significant Psychology coursework
- Documented successful teaching experience in Psychology.
- Ability to relate to students and staff of varied ethnicity, ages, backgrounds, and abilities, and a commitment to a culturally diverse environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues
- Ability and willingness to adapt to changing teaching schedules and situations
- Documented successful community college teaching experience in Psychology
- Knowledge of current curriculum, teaching, and assessment practices
- Ability and willingness to employ continuous improvement in curriculum, teaching, and assessment
- Willingness to participate in college initiatives/governance
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
