JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION: Participates in the operation, maintenance and repair of the physical plant and equipment in and around all applicable General Health System facilities.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

JOB FUNCTIONS

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:

1. Performs construction, repairs, preventative maintenance and installations on all assigned equipment.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
• Uses proper tools and exhibits good workmanship on all jobs.
• Utilizes all safety equipment and procedures, according to established industry and GHS standards.
• Consults with supervisor to evaluate work orders and set priorities.
• Receives materials and constructs projects, within specifications of work order and GHS and industry standards. Notifies supervisor and/or customer of any variations from specifications.
• Analyzes blueprints and specifications for installations; calculates the quantity of lumber, hardware, etc. needed for job.
• Completes assigned work orders within applicable timeframes.
• Performs repairs and preventative maintenance within established timeframes, with efficient usage of time and materials.
• Performs more complex duties and/or assists other trades as assigned by supervisor, within scope of individual ability and knowledge.


2. Follows GHS safety protocols for all tasks.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
• Demonstrates a complete understanding and adherence to GHS fire, safety, environmental and infection control policies and procedures.
• Practices all safety precautions and utilizes safety equipment (i.e. safety glasses, proper attire, etc.) within department and industry guidelines.

3. Performs all other duties as required.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
• Attends in-services and other meetings as required.

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two years experience at journeyman level preferred.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Trade or vocational school graduate OR equivalent experience.

SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrated working knowledge of carpentry and cabinet making. Able to understand and carry out instructions. Dependable and motivated to complete duties without constant supervision.

HIPAA REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: patient demographics, patient related complaints, and information related to patient location.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Incident reporting, handling of wastes, sharps and linen, PPE, exposure control plans, hand washing, environment of care, monitors clinical alarms for all ages and interfaces with all age groups and complies with related competencies

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and outdoors.  The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment.  The employee may work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers and sprays while performing the duties of this job. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  May be required to work long hours in event of emergency.
