PURPOSE: 

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Operations Manager will oversee Barasch & McGarry's Operational Processes within the Claims Department. The Operations Manager will oversee a team of Claim Administrators and Team Managers, exercise independent judgment in identifying problems, offer solutions, and formulate and implement new procedures for the smooth and efficient processing of VCF Claims. Collaborate closely with the Assistant Director of Operations to create and enforce efficient and effective internal processes. This will be accomplished through clear communication of company and departmental goals, communicating and enforcing performance standards, and maintaining accountability for the department. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Operational

  • Responsible for the efficiency and thoroughness of the Claims Department by working with Team Managers and their team members as needed. 
  • Oversee the Claims Department to ensure successful full-cycle claim submission for our VCF Clients. 
  • Create and implement process changes and improvements to the Claims Department as necessary. 
  • Collaborates with the Director of Operations and Assistant Director of Operations on special projects as assigned. 
  • Review and prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports on team activity to ensure efficacy and productivity. 
Performance Management 
  • Manage staff performance by conducting 1:1 meetings to facilitate growth & development and assessing performance.  
  • Directly manages Claim Administrator Team Managers; meets with all direct reports on a bi-weekly to monthly basis. 
  • Formulates strategy, improves performance, plans, organizes, and strategizes the daily operations for all direct reports. 
  • Provide mediation, conflict-resolution guidance, and appropriate discipline for direct reports and staff as necessary. 
  • Identifies professional development needs on an individual and group level. 
  • Oversee and edit performance evaluations for Claim Administrator Team Managers and their direct reports. 
  • Monitors staff punctuality and attendance records, documents patterns of time and leave abuse, and implements appropriate disciplinary action when necessary. 
Staff Development & Administration 
  • Interview and recommend the hiring of candidates in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Operations 
  • Collaborate with department leaders to develop training programs for the Claims Department 
  • Work directly with the Director of Operations and Assistant Director of Operations to ensure communication of all updated policies to interested and impacted parties. 
Additional Duties 
  • Maintain and update Salesforce, electronic files, and other database resources.  
  • Answers and screens correspondences relating to the Claims Submission Process.  
  • Assists Claim Administrator Team Managers and Attorneys in various tasks as assigned. 
  • Additional duties as required. 
JOB REQUIREMENTS: 
 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate policy, procedures, and directives to staff clearly and concisely. 
  • Knowledge of the industry's legal rules and guidelines related to the VCF and the WTCHP 
  • In depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles related to processing claims related to the VCF and WTCHP. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with staff. 
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills. 
  • Works cooperatively and utilizes effective problem-solving skills to promote team collaboration. 
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics. 
  • Familiarity with MS Office, Salesforce, and various business software. 
  • Ability to strategize and problem solve. 
  • Able to objectively evaluate employee performance and take corrective action when needed.
  • Must be available in the office or remotely daily to ensure the team's tasks are completed. 
COMPENSATION: 

$95,000 with flexibility based on experience.
