Combat Mission Systems (CMS) focuses on the development, production and integration of systems to provide advanced solutions across ground, amphibious and maritime platforms to meet our customers' mission requirements. We are currently looking for an experienced, International Commercial Contracts Manager to assume a lead role on our international team. This open Commercial Contracts Manager position will support a wide variety of products and customers in the growth of new international pursuits as well as managing existing international business. You will work with other exceptional professionals across many functions and business areas. As a Commercial Contracts Manager, you will:
Consistently work on and provide guidance on complex, International assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues as well as an understanding of and compliance with company policies and procedures;
Interact with other functions to gather, interpret, analyze, and develop recommended strategies and present information on assigned contracts;
Maintain an in-depth knowledge and working understanding of International contracting trends and information, US Department of Defense Acquisition and Procurement environment, the BAE Systems Contracts function and relevant company policies and procedures, Defense contracting methods and export;
Independently lead and support proposal activities including, but not limited to: analyzing solicitations, preparing summaries and developing strategies and recommendations based on the analysis, with attention to the financial and business risk of the proposed effort, participating in all proposal team meetings, preparing the terms, conditions and assumptions upon which the proposal may be submitted, reviewing the technical and pricing proposals for accuracy and consistency, conducting overall business risk analysis and preparing the proposal documents for submittal to the Customer;
Research and make recommendations on proposal and contract language. Ensure that all necessary reviews, recommendations and terms are complete, with minimal direction and guidance needed;
Lead contract negotiations and collaborate with customers in definitizing and completing the contract under general guidance;
Advise management of contractual rights and obligations, risk mitigation alternatives and business strategy;
Perform all aspects of assigned contract or purchase order-processing including, but not limited to: accuracy of order entry data, contract funding, scope changes, contract amendments, receipts and delivery schedules, legal requirements and other commitments;
Participate in final stages of assigned contracts by: (1) verifying completion of all commitments, and (2) performing assigned activities associated with contract closeout;
Maintain logs of proposals and other data as required and assist in data collection for monthly/quarterly reporting to Management;
Compile and maintain all required contractual records and documents in accordance with contract requirements and Company policies and procedures;
Act as primary point of contact between the Company and the Customer for all contractual matters on assigned contracts. Develop and maintain professional and dependable relationships with external Customers;
Support Program Managers, Product Line Directors, and Business Area leads and provide contracts advice and counsel to Company management, as required;
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook);
May work extended hours or weekends. Occasional travel, both domestic and international, as necessary to support the business;
May manage personnel, their workloads and their development plans for future growth;
Open to candidates in Sterling Heights, MI
This is a Hybrid position that would require being on-site 2-3 days a week.
This position has a 9/80 schedule that you will have every other Friday off.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor Degree and 8 years International contracting experience required to include at least:
  • 8 years of experience in international terms of sale negotiation experience for both hardware and services
  • 8 years of experience leading and negotiating proposals and pricing for large, complex programs
  • 7 years of experience working with export regulations and international licensing
  • 5 years of Foreign Military Sales (FMS) supply contracting experience
  • Knowledge in government, commercial and international contracts
  • Significant experience mitigating risk through complex negotiations of Terms & Conditions with international customers
  • Self-starter, comfortable working with minimal supervision on complex business arrangements


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Master's Degree/MBA
  • Experience with developing and fostering relationships with international customers


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $113080 - $192280

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
