Job Description
A Cyber Security Engineer to support the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (NIWC Atlantic) located in Charleston SC.

  • Assist with updating and maintaining the Authorization to Operate (ATO) processes, policies, and guidance such as the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and AR 25-2
  • Assist with development, maintenance, and tracking of Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M), Certification and accreditation Plan, and Cybersecurity Risk Management Plan (CCRMP)
  • Develop system architecture and interface diagrams; Ports, Protocols, and Services (PP&S) tables; Hardware and Software version descriptions
  • System registration and data entries into the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS)
  • Department of the Navy Application and Database Management System (DADMS) registration
  • Perform security assessments of network devices, Windows servers, Linux servers and appliances
  • Check for and implement security compliance according to STIG guidelines
  • Perform regular system scans and report findings
  • Implement and research system hardening and system updates according to engineering, vendor and DOD procedures
  • Work in an up time oriented production environment
  • Support engineering with information gathering and troubleshooting for system correction, procedure generation, and maintenance
  • Implement cyber security tools such as Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scanning, Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP), anti-virus, Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS), system monitoring and logging
  • Support Cybersecurity Test & Evaluation (CS T&E) events


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Security + certification
  • 8570 Baseline certification IAT II
  • Extensive experience with developing RMF packages and ATO accreditation
  • Experience with security administration or management
  • Active secret security clearance and ability to maintain
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • IAT Level III
  • Linux Operating System Certification
  • Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, or Identity Management Certification
  • CISSP Certification
