The selected candidate will provide technical leadership over a variety of projects and pursuits focused on all aspects of the Tracking, Collection, Processing, Exploitation and Dissemination (TCPED) process for Space Domain Awareness. The successful candidate will apply knowledge of image processing and exploitation techniques to improve tasking and planning to improve mission effectiveness as well as investigating innovative and emerging technologies to incorporate into multi-phenomenology data fusion, analysis, and execution. Evaluations of commercial, academic, and outside approaches and algorithms, development of measures of effectiveness, improvements to system capabilities, and creation of new procedures is commonplace. Formal and informal written reports and briefings are necessary to capture plans, schedules, status updates and results, and communicating strategy to a broad audience of internal performers and customers.

The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. What You'll Do:

  • Apply data processing and scientific analysis of space domain awareness data, across multiple phenomenology and mission areas.
  • Lead mission analysis efforts for a variety of remote sensing architectures within a small team.
  • Interact with ground data processing systems to assess areas of improvement and optimization.
  • Guide and/or set architecture, system and/or component requirements.
  • Prepare and give presentations to peers/management/customers.
  • Provide mentorship to junior analysts in mission analysis and/or modeling and simulation techniques.
  • New business support in the form of proposal writing and/or cost/schedule estimation.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 12 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Broad experience in scientific analysis of space domain awareness imagery, knowledge of image formation, and multiple (EO/IR, Radar, Passive RF) phenomenology.
  • Experience with mission planning and tasking for SDA sensors and architectures.
  • Experience in micro-services based, cloud-computing architectures and Agile software development processes.
  • Additional experience includes scientifically processing various imagery types from National, Civil, and Commercial imaging systems, proficiency with techniques, algorithms, and scientific analysis of imagery data processing using DS9, IDASS, or others.
  • Experience in architectural modeling tools such as STK, ODTK, and AFSIM.
  • Customer Relationships: Extensive knowledge of missions and customers across core technologies areas. Knowledge/experience working with critical customer base and experienced at establishing relationships with key personnel within customer community.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in relevant business environments.
  • Superb presentation skills with experience presenting technical results to senior customers and technical review meetings.
  • Ability to interface with technicians, peers, senior-level engineers, business development, management.
  • Ability to contribute to the success of small teams through excellent leadership and teamwork.


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in programming languages such as MATLAB or Python.
  • Knowledge of state estimation and orbital mechanics.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $154000 - $194500

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
