Job Description
The Applications Systems Administrator will work remotely for BAE Systems' Enterprise Shared Services - Information Technology's (ESS-IT) Application Solutions organization, supporting multiple IT Services and the application portfolios associated with the business customer in various functional areas (e.g., Finance, Human Resources, Audit, Security, and Legal). Under general to limited supervision, the Candidate selected for this role will perform and support application implementations, operation and maintenance, and cybersecurity compliance initiatives, while adhering to the appropriate policies, processes and procedures.

  • Responsibilities will focus on customer support, application operational and security monitoring, Operations & Maintenance (O&M), enhancements, system to system data interfaces, and Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) integrations and installations. Additionally, there will be opportunities for some new custom application and interface development, configuration and integration and implementation.
  • Specific O&M responsibilities will include system maintenance (e.g., upgrades, patching), issue identification, troubleshooting, resolution development, testing and deployment, as well as producing / maintaining operational and security compliance documentation.
  • Additional responsibilities and opportunities may require leveraging experience with:
    • Software development and O&M support using industry recognized delivery methodologies (e.g., SDLC, Waterfall, & Agile). Hands on and support experience in software requirements, design, coding, unit testing, integration, build and release management, and the creation and maintenance of associated documentation.
    • The modernization of applications (e.g., consolidation, replacement, & conversion) in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • This position will require engaging business customers and other technologists with a collaborative mindset and excellent written and verbal communications (targeted for technical and non-technical audiences).


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Minimum requirement is HS with 12+ years of experience or equivalent Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of Windows server administration experience/concepts/knowledge.
  • MUST have a Minimum of 2+ years of increasing responsibilities in software development and/or software operations and maintenance.
  • MUST have a Minimum of 2+ years of supporting web-based applications.
    • Understanding and working knowledge of basic Internet protocols such as HTTP, SMTP, SOAP, SSL, and TLS.
    • Web Application deployment/configuration/migration for Apache, IIS, Tomcat, ASP and ASP.net.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in the design, implementation, and operations and maintenance support of client/server applications with an underlying database.
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell, SQL, Perl, Bash, Python, VBA or other scripting languages.
  • General database knowledge with some specific knowledge in Microsoft SQL and Oracle


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Working knowledge of DFARS; NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, and CMMC or similar security controls.
  • General Knowledge of computer networking concepts.
  • Previous Unix/Linux experience.
  • Experience with Server-Side Program Languages such as PHP and JAVA.
  • Experience managing the delivery of small and medium size projects.
  • Previous “Team Lead” experience.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $103590 - $176130

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
