Job Description
Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed fulltime on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.
BAE Systems is looking for an experienced candidate with interest in leading the Aftermarket Operations Product Center. In Controls & Avionics Solutions, you will have the opportunity to help support hundreds of industry customers - whether it is fly-by-wire flight controls, full authority digital engine controls, or cabin and cockpit systems. The qualified individual will have the opportunity to lead, own, and influence these business areas in the commercial airline industry. Candidates will need to demonstrate technical capability and strong interpersonal/leadership skills in order to ensure that the full team is aligned and executing to business requirements and customer needs, driving quality improvement and operational performance. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Lead and drive a proactive safety culture
  • Provide operational input to overall business strategy
  • Contribute fully to annual operations planning for the business
  • Develop and drive operational strategy with a 12-18 month vision
  • Determine staffing needs (hourly, salary) and ensure team is structured correctly
  • Identify and drive development needs - coach and mentor team members as required
  • Define and clarify roles and responsibilities for team members
  • Establish effective a communications framework throughout the team
  • Mold team culture and workforce integrity
  • Proactively support quality initiatives, including test yields and defect reduction
  • Develop and drive strategies to increase productivity/efficiency, and reduce process waste. Embed continuous improvement into all business activities and processes.
  • Monitor and report on product cost, gross margin, and team initiatives to support business goals
  • Develop and present effective communications and presentations for customer engagement

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or leadership field
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Direct experience leading operations teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
  • Knowledge and experience in manufacturing process flow and strategies
  • Passion for understanding and eliminating process bottlenecks


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Lean manufacturing / Theory of constraints training and certification
  • Experience leading a six sigma culture
  • Direct experience developing strategic goals, and motivating to the team to achieve
