Summary:

 

The Production Shift Supervisor coordinates and oversees production operations involved in the manufacturing process.  Uses independent judgment in performing responsibilities. Works under general supervision on assigned objectives.  Refers to supervisor for guidance on unusual problems or circumstances. Exercises direct or indirect supervision over hourly production employees.  May also supervise directly and indirectly personnel working on the off shifts.

 

What you'll be contributing:

 

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.

  • Supervising and coordinating all the Production shift personnel and ensuring each individual works in a safe and efficient manner to produce conforming product at all times.

  • Maintaining a safe working environment by enforcing all company safety guidelines and OHS Act and regulations.

  • Ensuring environmental guidelines are followed to address environmental performance (plume management, spills, housekeeping, etc.) according to the company procedures and Ministry of Environment guidelines.

  • Quality control of products according to the company quality management system.

  • Supporting and enforcing the requirements of the facility's Port Security plan.

  • Reporting and following up on incidents.

  • Organizing payroll information for Production shift employees.

  • Organizing vacation times and maintaining vacation, overtime and coverage schedules for shift employees working within the Production department.

  • Ensuring Kiln and Mill outputs meet Production budget requirements.

  • Maintaining inventory of products in cement silos, clinker silos, raw mill silos and of all fuels.

  • Managing storage hall for all raw materials together with the IPT Department.

  • Distributing and collecting variance sheets from Operators.

  • Entering work notifications in SAP.

  • Determining the training needs of all supervised personnel and informing Production Manager of specific training needs.

  • Additional duties as assigned by the manager

 

To succeed in this position, you will need:

 

  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.

  • Minimum of a College Diploma in Engineering or Mechanical Millwright Trade Apprenticeship is required.

  • University Degree in Engineering, with a strong technical background is preferred.

  • Experience working within a Heavy Industrial Manufacturing environment preferred.

 

Knowledge/Skills Required

 

  • Acquiring and maintaining Levels 1 & 2 certification for Joint Health and Safety committee.

  • Acquiring and maintaining First Aid / CPR certification

  • Specific knowledge regarding the overall functioning of a cement plant.

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001guidelines.

  • Acquiring basic Port Security training for operating the dock area.

  • Occupational Health and Safety knowledge and application of same.

  • Experience working within a Heavy Industrial Manufacturing environment.

  • Proficient computer skills, including email and applications such as SAP and Excel
