* Call Schedule: Occasional Community Ortho Trauma Call split with Orthopedic Department
* Practice Detail: Current staff - Complex Orthopedic Specialty Office with surgeons specializing in General Orthopedics, Joint Replacement Specialist, Orthopedic Traumatology, Sports Medicine & Surgery, Foot & Ankle Surgery, and Hand Surgery.
* EMR System: Cerner
* Facility: Ascension Borgess Orthopedics
* Location: Services Southwest Michigan region with our primary office, hospital, and OR located in Kalamazoo. Outlying service in our Ascension Borgess Allegan Hospital (30 minute drive)
* Visa Eligibility: Yes
* Equipment: Stryker Center for Excellence in Orthopedics. With Stryker's headquarters in our community, we partner with them with the majority of our equipment.

Responsibilities:

* Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Coordinates discharge planning with case management.
* Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
* Accepts patient referrals from other physicians. Acts as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.
* Participates in academic programs (e.g. medical education and research) as requested.
* Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
* Participates in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.

Requirements

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited residency in orthopedic surgery.
AND
Current certification or active participation in the examination process with achievement of certification in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery or the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Certification must be achieved within the time frame mandated by the appropriate board or within five (5) years after completion of training when time frames are not mandated.
AND
Required Current Experience: At least 50 general orthopedic procedures during the last 12 months or successful completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency or clinical fellowship within the past 12 months.

Required Credential(s):
Physician MD/DO with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Michigan Board of Medicine obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Credentialing done by Medical Staff department.

Education:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
