Applied Industrial Technologies is currently seeking and has an immediate opening for a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Regional Manager – Prairies. The ideal individual would be located in Saskatoon, SK or Calgary, AB, however, we will consider other metropolitan areas within Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Southern Alberta.
Position Summary:
The ideal candidate for the Regional Manager position is someone who combines an outgoing personality with a strong commitment to customer service and relationships, as well as the ability to drive results through mobilizing people and resources.
As a Regional Manager, you will direct and manage overall performance for your assigned Service Centers -including operations and sales - with the goal of meeting or exceeding P&L and productivity objectives at both the top and bottom line. In addition, it will also be up to you to staff your Service Centers with the right people, to include hiring, training and coaching new and existing team members.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Establishing individual associate growth and performance goals, as well as developing new and veteran managers and associates
Planning, controlling and directing regional programs and activities related to sales functions and customer service
Maintaining adequate field, industrial, and competitive contacts to anticipate or to keep abreast of developments in markets, products, prices, promotions, and other related fields
Evaluating the application of new market developments and recommending appropriate policies and programs
Establishing areas of responsibility for sales management, anticipate or investigating any problems and taking corrective action
Providing team members with time and territory management training
Supervising and assisting sales force in developing management-level knowledge of markets and product lines
Ensuring that customer relations are maintained at a high level by regularly visiting service centers
Assisting in major areas covering important accounts, making joint calls to key accounts, and closing important deals
Monitoring pricing, purchasing and contract adherence for your assigned region
Managing regional inventory and receivables, expenses, inventory matching and accuracy, budget, and profit/loss
Analyzing region results and implementing changes as necessary
Preparing management reports and presentations as required
Lead and provide guidance, mentorship and assistance to managers across the region; Managing team performance including coaching, developing, engaging with employees, driving a high-performance culture
Additional support or geographical area of coverage dependent on business needs
Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following qualifications:
Progressive management experience with multi location management history, leading an organization with multiple layers and having direct reports with teams
High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree, preferred (or equivalent experience)
4 years of outside sales management experience, including a track record of driving consistent sales and profitability growth
Ability to translate business vision into tactical operational actions; identifying the highest impact initiatives in order to focus efforts by resource allocation according to strategy
Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
High level of personal accountability coupled with the ability to work independently
Minimum 5 years of proven success in customer service or operations roles
Demonstrated success at leading teams and driving organizational change and improvements
Ability to lead by example and to promote high morale by showing enthusiasm for your work and determination to achieve results
Proven ability to work in a team environment, influence others across the organization and effectively manage a geographically diverse team
Strong financial acumen and the ability to drive budgets and sales planning initiatives
Ability to work with groups to attain consensus on decisions and implement action plans
Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, functions and employees in all locations (corporate, field and operations)
High degree of mechanical aptitude in order to maximize your product knowledge and help guide customers to solutions
Ability and desire to learn new systems and processes quickly
Proficient computer skills including the ability to leverage Microsoft office programs (ie excel, powerpoint) to efficiently convey messaging
Other Assets Include:
Fluid Power, Bearings and/or power transmission sales experience, preferred
Industrial Distribution experience preferred
SAP Experience an asset
Working Conditions
Travel expected up to 30% within the region (may vary depending on business needs)
