AMD together we advance_
System Power & Performance (PnP) Engineer Role Overview We are seeking a highly motivated System Power & Performance Engineer (MTS Level) to join our System PnP team. This role will have a dual focus:
- Profiling and bottleneck analysis on AMD's system PnP stack, with emphasis on Linux and virtualized environments.
- Driving competitive benchmarking across market segments, comparing AMD SoCs against competition.
- Execute system performance profiling and bottleneck analysis on AMD's SoCs, focusing on Linux (Ubuntu, Yocto) and virtualized software stacks.
- Perform benchmark characterization, system-level tuning, and workload analysis across CPU, GPU, NPU, and memory subsystems.
- Drive competitive benchmarking initiatives by running workloads on competitive platforms (Intel, Qualcomm, ARM-based SoCs) and building comparative landscapes across segments (client, embedded, industrial, automotive).
- Collaborate with SoC architects, BIOS/FW teams, and software developers to identify performance gaps and recommend optimizations.
- Generate comprehensive technical reports, dashboards, and documentation for leadership reviews, customer engagements, and outbound collateral.
- Contribute to automation for benchmark execution, data collection, and results visualization.
- Strong hands-on experience in system performance analysis, profiling, and tuning on Linux; exposure to Android and virtualized stacks is a plus.
- Familiarity with benchmarking suites such as SPEC, 3DMark, GFXBench, PCMark, MLPerf, MobileMark, browser benchmarks, and multimedia workloads.
- Proficiency with profiling tools: perf, VTune, OProfile, Flamegraphs, GPUPerfStudio, or similar.
- Knowledge of system architecture concepts (x86 SoC, memory hierarchy, CPU/GPU/NPU performance).
- Proficiency in Python/Bash scripting for automation of workload runs, data analysis, and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to identify and explain system bottlenecks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing clear, data-driven reports.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (Xen, KVM, Hyper-V, Docker/containers).
- Exposure to post-silicon validation flows and SoC bring-up.
- Familiarity with competitive benchmarking methodologies and customer-facing documentation.
- Experience with dashboarding tools (PowerBI, Grafana) for data visualization.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in system performance, benchmarking, or PnP analysis.
