The Role:

The Video Processing Engine team is responsible for demonstrating AMD's hardware capabilities to enable the development of compelling, responsive, high quality video related applications that don't drain your system's battery life. Video Processing is a key component in the development of cutting-edge technology to enable the best possible visual experience.

 

The Person:

As a Software Development Engineering on our team, your key responsibility will be to design, development, validation and maintenance of the Video Processing Engine for current and future generations of AMD Graphics Processing Units (GPU) and Accelerated Processing Units (APU), with focus on Performance and image quality.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement device driver for new AMD GPU/APU products
  • Reproduce, debug and resolve VPE driver issues with specific hardware and software contexts
  • Craft and develop test applications and quality assurance programs

Preferred Experience:

  • Strong C/C++ programming skills in Microsoft Windows Device Driver development environment
  • Working experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, Object Oriented Programming knowledge and skills
  • Experience with System-On-Chip bring-up
  • Kernel Mode Debugging skills, experience with WinDbg, SoftICE, etc.
  • Trouble-shooting, ability to triage and root cause issue
  • Hands-on experience with color processing and formats.
  • Working knowledge of video encoding and decoding.

Assets:

  • OS, Kernel, DDK, SDK, Multimedia, Direct3D, OpenGL, OpenCL knowledge and/or experience
  • Multimedia (video codecs, color formats, video algorithms) experience
  • DirectShow(DShow), DirectX-VA(DXVA 1/2, DXVA-HD), XvMC, OpenMAX, VAAPI, VDPAU
  • Experience with Video processing and enhancement algorithms
  • Video decode and encode, rendering, scheduling
  • Familiarity with Perforce, Git, Remedy, Jira

Academic Credentials:

  • University Degree or Post Graduate Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering
