THE ROLE:
AMD is seeking a Senior Tax Manager with strong knowledge of at least one of these topics, EMEA, Asia or US income tax or indirect tax, familiar with US GAAP tax accounting and recent tax and finance technology, to join our corporate tax team. In this role, you will interact with regional and US tax directors and stakeholders such as tax managers and finance managers of our US and international subsidiaries. You will learn about US and international tax as you will work with internal tax subject matters or external consultants and tax firms in Asia, the US or in the EMEA countries.
THE PERSON:
The right candidate is someone with strong income tax knowledge, either in European countries, Asia or the US income tax or tax technology. A person who is a self-starter, works independently, who loves to think critically and apply complex tax concepts to identify, assess and resolve tax issues. The ideal candidate is someone familiar and experienced with process improvements, changes to more automated processes and adding efficiency. Candidates must have the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and be able to explain complex tax concepts simply to business partners. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as liaison between corporate tax and Penang shared services on the task allocations
- To drive regional tax projects as liaison to tax advisors
- To provide corporate tax support for IT systems and other automation projects
- To lead a few teams of Tax professionals covering and supporting:
- Asia, Canada, EMEA, and US Federal and state tax returns and provisions, reconciliations and cash tax payments
- State taxes, US Excise Tax, Withholding tax and UNICAP
- Schedule M3s, Forms 5471, 8858, etc.
- US international tax support on Foreign Derived Intangible income (FDII) and Foreign Tax Credit (FTC),
- Form 8975 CbCr Filing and Pilar II taxes
- Global transfer pricing review and updates,
- Transfer Pricing documentation for Regional and US compliance,
- Support Intercompany transactions and Agreements,
- Regional Tax projects, review and benchmarking,
- US SUT and Regional Indirect taxes, including advisory, returns, account reconciliations,
- Canada, the US and other countries' R&D Tax Credit, and
- All tax audit support for the above
- Responsible for the overall performance of the team, identifying clear objectives for the team, providing coaching, career development and feedback to team members, providing performance evaluation and reward.
- Develop and publish weekly/monthly/quarterly key performance Indicators (KPIs) to stakeholders and executive management.
- Reviewing and analyzing current procedures in order to recommend and implement changes to standardize activities and integrate them into shared services.
- Participate and lead in cross-functional process and system improvement initiatives.
- Lead the maintenance of a strong controls environment.
- Drive the team to meet higher levels in the quality and speed.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 10-15 Years of team management and Finance or tax operations experience
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Using technology to improve the process and add efficiency
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
- Excellent motivation skills and arbitration skills.
- Project Management and Lean Six Sigma experience are an advantage.
- Must have experience working in an international multi-cultural environment and experience working in different time zones.
- Track record of close partnering and driving change in concert with corporate management, specifically related to global processes and systems.
- Acumen to focus on people, processes and systems.
- Focus on more structural problem-solving and quality improvement
- Resourceful and results-oriented.
- SAP, One Source tax, Reporting tools such as HANA, and data applications knowledge are added advantages.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Degree in Accountancy or Finance, or any equivalent accounting qualification.
