The Role:

As a member of this team you will ensure the performance requirements of the silicon and the cost requirements of the product are met through the integration of silicon, package and platform electrical design. Packaging Signal Integrity also provides design support to engineering design teams for both current and forward-looking product development and feasibility studies. The Person:

The ideal candidate has the ability to communicate effectively and work in close collaboration with others in AMD as well as with AMD's customers to ensure optimal engineering design decisions and efficient problem solving. You can collaborate and work harmoniously with others, while maintaining the ability to work independently.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design/implement various state-of-the-art, high-speed (32+Gbps) analog/mixed-signal blocks for GDDR and other SerDes PHYs
  • Deliver detailed specifications & documentation
  • Develop circuit schematics and work closely with layout designers to drive designs to completion (including physical verification and backend/reliability flows)
  • Drive design and layout reviews to ensure quality of deliverables and mitigate overall risk
  • Work closely with various disciplines (e.g. Layout, Logical Design, Physical Design, Firmware, and Design Verification) to ensure successful cross-team engagement and high-quality execution

Preferred Experience:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills along with attention to details
  • Must be a self-starter, able to drive tasks independently and efficiently to completion
  • Strong/effective communication skills
  • Enthusiastic team-first mentality
  • Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers
  • Relevant academic background (MS degree preferred) and work experience relevant for applied role
  • Experience with PCB, Package and IC level power delivery networks
  • Experience in silicon packaging and PCB design for signal and power integrity
  • Experience with high-speed digital signaling interfaces such as PCIE, GDDR6, HDMI
  • Expertise in electrical modeling EDA and AMS tools such as HFSS, SIwave, HSPICE
  • Expertise in electromagnetic theory and circuit analysis
  • Experience with programming in Python, C++, Matlab

 

Academic Credentials:

MS or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering
