JOB DETAILS:
- LOCATION: Austin, TX
- ONSITE: This role requires the student to work from the Austin office (40 hours a week) throughout the duration of the Co-op/Intern term.
- DURATION: Spring/Summer Co-op: January 26, 2026 – August 7, 2026
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
In this role, you will be an important part of a highly visible and motivated team responsible for DF silicon enablement across all AMD products. You will be working as a software developer for IP-level silicon enablement tool-chain. You will work with staff and architects to understand existing tools, scripts and their use cases pertaining to: extracting, delivering and checking IP initialization/configuration settings, IP feature enablement, IP performance stressing, performance analysis and debugging functional issues observed on silicon. In addition, you will contribute towards debug and optimization of software to support silicon bring-up, validation, and debug. Code quality, robustness and extendibility are critical. As a member of the team, you will also be responsible for contributing to coding, code reviews, creating unit tests, and authoring detailed documentation related to your work. As an intern, be part of AMD's groundbreaking engineering team and you will –
- Developer for IP Silicon Enablement Tool-chain
- Work with internal customers to comprehend usage models and requirements
- Work with team members to define a software architecture and build a scalable silicon debug/power/perf analysis tool chain including data visualization capabilities as appropriate
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- You are currently enrolled in a US based University in a Master's program majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering. or a related field.
- If you have knowledge/experience with any of the following technical skills (or related areas) and are enthusiastic about this role, we strongly encourage you to apply –
- Developer of an xml based IP spec delivery tool
- Develop understanding of basic silicon initialization and configuration sequences (BIOS/Firmware) - for all product segments (Servers, laptops, discrete graphics and ML-accelerators)
- Evolve existing scripts for spec delivery and checking into scalable tools
- Research, engagement and support
- Engage with other teams within AMD to leverage and/or adopt best practices
- Write development documentation and contribute content to end user documentation.
- Strong background in compilers, data parsing/processing and software optimization techniques.
- Python and C / C++
- Linux and Linux scripting
- Experience with perl and rubix is a plus
- Strong analytical and Debugging, problem solving skills
