Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring SMTS Software System Design Engineers to Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Plan, design, develop and/or test software systems for software enhancements and new products. Set operational specifications and formulate and/or analyze software requirements. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identify, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses. Build a platform for enabling Continuous Integration, Testing and Delivery of AI Software Solutions on AMD platforms. Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software for enhancements and new semiconductor products. Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design. Exercise independent judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required
Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Requires three (3) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering occupation.
Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will alternatively accept a bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering occupation.
Specific skills required: The following skills are required:
Position requires three (3) years of experience in the following:
- Designing, installing, and maintaining Continuous Integration systems;
- Programming in C++ or Python;
- Scripting in Bash or Python;
- Java or JavaScript;
- Unix and Linux environments;
- Data Structures;
- Creating dashboards to monitor and report system performance;
- Implementing CI workflows; and
- Object oriented design.
Can work remotely.
