SERVER PROGRAM MANAGER

 

THE ROLE: 

AMD's EPYC Server team is actively seeking passionate leaders who are deeply invested in server technology and eager to contribute to our mission of driving the next evolution in the datacenter. The role demands horizontal leadership capabilities and strong analytical, resource planning, risk management, and coummunication skills. Join us as together we advance data center computing.

 

THE PERSON: 

As a Program Manager you will plan and drive key engineering initiatives across a global cross-functional organization that meet the product requirements for a successful program launch. The candidate must have intiimate knowledge of technical program management, an outstanding track record of delivering sophisticated hardware programs, and the ability to drive program schedules that align to business strategy.

 

  • Engages early in the product cycle to define bringup and validation schedules and requirements
  • Creates materials plan and budget for boards, test stations, tools, etc
  • Creates enablement plans for lab space, access, tracking tools, etc
  • Coordinates with customer-facing teams on samples management, firmware/software deliverables and overall support
  • Is able to manage across multiple disciplines including board design, supply chain, firmware, software, tools, performance, debug, qualification and validation.
  • Drives regular platform validation team meetings to manage planning and execution
  • Proactively identifies and reacts to risks/issues and drives mitigation and/or recovery activities
  • Serves as a key interface to a broad set of development, management and executive stakeholders on progress reporting and metric tracking.
  • Is a self-directed leader that can drive the above activities with minimal guidance.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Defines, plans and drives projects and program plans based on management and senior technical guidance 
  • Possesses a thorough knowledge of the principles of project management and can apply them effectively on small to large size projects 
  • Has responsibility for projects or processes of significant technical importance and for results that cross engineering project areas 
  • Initiates significant changes to existing processes and methods to improve project and team efficiency 
  • Creates and maintains project management artifacts such as schedule, resource and resource forecast, risk and issues logs 
  • Provides comprehensive views of project status updates and facilitates cross development team dependencies and communications 
  • Identify action or mitigation plans for issues or risks that arise during the project lifecycle 
  • Collaborates with core teams and execution teams to identify areas that require special attention or escalations to identify corrective actions 
  • Collect, analyze, organize and publish work performance data via dashboards and recurring status reports 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Good understanding of requirements management, documentation management, and defect management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to handle all levels of interaction, including executive level 
  • Technical program management and customer relationship management
  • Horizontal leadership/Matrix management experience
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively as a self-starter and as part of a team 
  • Collaborate in problem solving and mitigating risks with Engineering, Program/Project Management, Business Units and Product Management - both internal and external 
  • Experience with productivity and project tools including Microsoft Project, JIRA, Confluence and Office Suite
  • Experience with Agile methodology

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • Formal project management education, PMP certified
