THE ROLE: 

In this high-profile role, you will have great exposure to all the latest technologies in the computer graphics industry. As a Senior Program Manager in the Software QA, Client APU team, you will manage and deliver Client's full range of product roadmap commitments from feasibility to completion of the programs, planning and coordinating SW validation of CPU/APU programs.

 

The individual is expected to supervise all aspects of the project, and to work directly with Business, Engineering organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient execution of AMD's APU programs, meeting scope, quality objectives, and customer needs.

 

THE PERSON: 

The right candidate will have solid knowledge of technical program management, an outstanding track record of delivering sophisticated software/hardware programs, you will also drive a schedule for business planning towards growth that align to business strategy 

 

You will also take ownership of issues and approach challenges relentlessly with both critical thinking and creativity - We want someone who will lead and influence the team with solid communication and collaboration skills. You drive clarity and organization in chaotic situations and comfortably prioritize a dynamic set of tasks and responsibilities.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Defines, plans, and drives projects and program plans (including Validation Test Strategy/Test Plan) based on management and senior technical guidance.
  • Scopes technical feasibility of new products by clarifying and analyzing requirements with SW/HW Architects, Technical Leads, and Engineers.
  • Develops program schedules by considering various Driver, SW Stack components, and HW/FW dependencies, and negotiates and creates staffing plans that support the validation/program schedule.
  • Establishes formal program management artifacts including a plan of record, statements of work, project/program timelines, budget, scope, performance, and quality KPIs, with excellence in resource planning.
  • Plans for risks in the development path, identifies prevention methods, and addresses them to save on engineering costs.
  • Acts as the key liaison between the validation team and other stakeholders on all matters pertaining to successful project execution.
  • Conducts program exit reviews with external teams, all stakeholders, and executives regarding program quality.
  • Must be comfortable working with senior executives and addressing the needs and requirements from AMD's Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Engineering organizations.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Possess a thorough knowledge of the principles of project management and can apply them effectively on small to large size projects.
  • Strong software development, debugging, and test automation knowledge; demonstrated understanding of SW QA process & methodology, with in-depth knowledge of software testing techniques and methodologies, debugging, and programming.
  • Solid understanding of, or interest in GPU (PC Graphics, AI) and NPU, on-line and off-line multimedia content streaming/playback, file transcoding, 3D graphics concepts, DirectX and/or OpenGL, 3D/VR gaming, and game engine technologies, AI/ML technologies.
  • Possess technical capacity to fully understand SW features implementation.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including experience on executive readout/briefing, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with multiple people and teams, and communicate progress regularly.
  • Outstanding in analytical, problem solving, and risk management skills.
  • Strong self-motivator, with a sense of urgency when needed, strong crisis management skills, and experience working in a high-pressure environment with competing priorities and tight turnaround times.
  • Familiarity with industry standard project and defects management tools, such as Jira and Confluence, and experience with Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with Agile methodology.
  • Engineering background preferred.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering.
  • Formal Project Management education, PMP certified.
