The Role

As a Tk compiler engineer, you will help design and implement the compiler infrastructure for a kernel language that can generate high performance kernels for a wide variety of ML use cases. Tk (Turbine Kernels) is a language that layers on top of the IREE compiler and runtime that can be used for writing high performance kernels for a wide variety of hardware backends.

 

The Person

A strong compiler and programming language expert, who is very familiar with the GPU/CPU programming model and understands the core optimization primitives. You are a strong communicator and team player.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • You will drive the design and development of the Tk language and compiler infrastructure
  • Implement compiler optimizations for generating high performance kernels on AMD GPUs, CPUs and IPUs
  • Implement state of the art ML kernels in Tk (such as paged attention, etc.) and optimize them
  • Participate in design discussions and develop roadmap for future work
  • Engage with the community and drive adoption of Tk for various use-cases

 

Preferred Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in compiler development
  • Strong understanding of programming language and compiler development
  • Experience with IREE, MLIR and/or LLVM
  • Experience with HPC programming and writing high performance kernels in CUDA, OpenCL, SYCL, etc.
  • Strong understanding of programming languages such as Triton, Mojo, Python, Haskell
  • Understanding of optimizations in generative models such as LLMs, SDXL etc.
  • Understanding of distributed computations and communication collectives

 

Academic Credentials

  • Masters degree or PhD in Computer Science or related field
