THE ROLE:
The Chief of Staff will serve as a key operational leader for AMD's Server Customer Platform Team, reporting directly to the Senior Director. This role is responsible for the operational execution of a large, globally distributed technical organization focused on enabling AMD's top server customers. The Chief of Staff will drive strategic planning, streamline day-to-day operations, and enable scalable, efficient team execution.
THE PERSON:
Managing horizontally across several functional organizations is a key job function. The role will require extensive interactions across the Customer Engineering organizations, and interacting with several other internal organizations (Design, Platform, Operations, Business and Finance). The applicant must be a team player with a commitment to meeting deadlines and an aptitude to thrive in a fast paced multi-tasking environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Staff Operations:
- Lead weekly staff meetings and set agendas aligned with strategic goals
- Drive cross-functional alignment and follow-through on leadership decisions
- Financial & Resource Planning:
- Lead annual budget planning and headcount forecasting
- Manage a multi-million-dollar operating budget, including hardware and validation spending
- Monitor and track spending against plan and forecast needs across fiscal quarters
- Strategic Planning & Execution:
- Develop and track execution of annual team objectives and key results (OKRs)
- Support long-term planning for roadmap enablement and resource alignment
- Track team staffing and resource allocation versus plan
- People & Performance Operations:
- Coordinate performance management activities, including focal reviews and 9-box calibration
- Manage employee recognition, awards programs, and morale initiatives
- Support leadership in recruiting, onboarding, and workforce planning
- Customer & Business Readiness:
- Maintain and report customer engagement pipeline
- Track deliverables and execution timelines for key customer programs
- Coordinate across engineering, program management, and customer teams to ensure readiness
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Proven experience in operational leadership, program management, or Chief of Staff roles
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to drive alignment across global and cross-functional teams
- Experience with budget ownership and headcount planning in a technical environment
- Familiarity with engineering workflows, customer enablement, or hardware development a plus
