Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring MTS Systems Design Eng. to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Lead thermal, power, and performance architecture and development of select “premium” products to drive OEM system customization and optimization of internally developed system level features and operation. Drive and communicate progress to plans and performance objectives with both AMD leadership team and OEM customer teams. Define and integrate requirements for internal design, performance, and product characterization efforts as it relates to OEM system and commercial customer needs. Directly interface with OEM/ODM customer thermal, mechanical, power and performance design teams, providing product projections, validation support, design assistance and product training Identify and drive closure to competitive gaps in power, performance, and thermal features, capabilities, process, and tools in collaboration with advance teams on select premium product engagements. Work with the SOC Architects to set system power and performance attainment objectives and methods to improve projection accuracies. Lead and influence customers with performance and battery life projections based for those premium system designs based on components, thermals variables, and power considerations to hit both AMD and OEM goals. Support the system performance/watt assessments & attainments for a given Client APU/CPU product with continuous test, debug, analysis, & defect resolution throughout the course of a project. Collaborate across system design and architecture teams to balance system layout requirements for mechanical, thermal, board design, and key component placement. Interface with all internal functions required to enable and optimize power management for client APU/CPU products. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Four (4) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.
Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

- Designing, developing, and testing thermal solutions for semiconductor products;
- Hardware verification;
- Power Management Analysis;
- Scripting and Automation;
- Performance and Power Modeling;
- Power and Performance Measurement and Analysis; and
- System Setup and Test Frameworks.
Position requires one (1) year of experience in the following:
- Producing technical documentation for products.
