THE ROLE: 

AMD is looking for a lead dev ops engineer to provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise to our growing team. As a key contributor, you will have a strong technical background in lab systems management and data analytics to contribute to all aspects of the Data Center product line. Individual will be expected to lead and work within a team that is enhancing an operational infrastructure that will allow the organization to provide at scale operations that include system provisioning, scheduling, utilization, pipeline deliveries, and methodologies for continuous integration.

You are a highly motivated hands-on doer with a strong development background and problem solving mentality. You are a confident, thoughtful leader with excellent communication skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and a willingness to learn and adapt. Excellent teamwork skills and capable of leading/working with a highly technical team with fast paced, high output deliveries.  Knowledge of the necessary items required to have a full validation organization working in a world where a framework exists such that systems/platforms are easily accessed, upgraded, debugged and maintained. A world where tests and metrics such as throughput and utilization are standardized, tracked, queried, and reported upon.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Implement good DevOps practices and maintain tools and infrastructure that enable our teams to deliver high-quality software reliably and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure architects and be responsible for the defining-designing-delivering of the technical architectures, patterns, technical quality, risks, fitness for purpose and operability of technical architecture solutions   
  • Be a leader and mentor to the team; lead by example
  • Design, plan out schedule, implement, manage scalable infrastructure solutions to support the scaling platform needs
  • Work with team to map out deliverables, track, expect the unexpected and most of all delivery to commitments
  • Automate deployment, configuration, and management processes to streamline operations and improve efficiency
  • Monitor system utilization, reliability, and map a route to resolving issues to maximize uptime
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid and reliable deliveries
  • Develop and maintain documentation: prodecures, processes, work within current framework
  • Map out a solid framework for rapid deployement of jobs (including batch)
  • Define solid methods for upgrades/downgrades/provisioning
  • Problem solving, driving to a resolution, as well looking at alternative routes

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

 

  • Minimum 7+ years in providing At-Scale, Development Operations for an SOC/Platform Computer company
  • Knowledge of release management practices, including versioning, branching, merging, and tagging, and experience with release management tools and processes.
  • Proven experience with  languages: Python, Ansible, SQL, Bash, Shell/PowerShell
  • Expertise in both *nix (RHEL, Ubuntu etc ) and windows operating systems.
  • Clear understanding of containerization and practical use (such as Docker)
  • Proficient with revision control (GIT, SVN and CVS)
  • Utilization of  DevOps practices such as Agile development, continuous feedback, automation tooling, and shift left
  • Good balance of expertise in automation tools, data analytics tools, datacenter platform technology, and silicon validation  

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or related engineering field strongly preferred
