Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

We're looking for a Lead AI Engineer with a passion for building next-generation Agentic AI and LLM-based applications that transform enterprise workflows. This role combines deep software engineering expertise with cutting-edge AI innovation — ideal for someone who thrives in 0→1 environments and enjoys turning experimental AI capabilities into production-grade, scalable systems.

You'll work hands-on building production-ready and cloud-native AI solutions while shaping the engineering standards for applied AI at enterprise scale. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex projects, applying advanced technical expertise to solve challenging problems and deliver measurable results.

THE PERSON:

This AMD team is looking for a passionate individual who can help support the team initiatives, excellent team player, has experience collaborating with people across different time zones, and is willing to jump in to help resolve issues quickly. You will be involved in all areas that impact the team, including performance, automation, and development. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical, problem-solving, and consulting skills. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

AI and Machine Learning Execution

• Architect and deliver end-to-end AI solutions, from model design and RAG pipelines to scalable APIs and microservices.
• Build and deploy agentic AI systems that enable autonomous task orchestration and reasoning.
• Lead efforts to operationalize LLMs, including safety guardrails, evaluation pipelines, and performance monitoring.
• Employ advanced AI methodologies, including transformers, LLMs, and GANs, to address business requirements.
• Design batch and real-time pipelines to integrate AI-driven predictions into operational systems.

Project Delivery

• Adapt to project requirements by serving as a Data Scientist and/or ML Engineer, leveraging expertise across disciplines.
• Lead the end-to-end execution AI initiatives, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, and quality standards.
• Continuously optimize workflows to improve performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Collaboration and Innovation

• Engage with stakeholders to understand business objectives and translate them into technical solutions.
• Contribute to cross-functional team discussions, sharing expertise and best practices in data and AI.
• Stay current with advancements in tools, methodologies, and technologies, applying innovations to improve project outcomes.
• Team player and self-starter

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in Software/ML engineering with deep expertise in Python and building production-grade ML/AI systems
• Strong foundation in LLM operations — prompt engineering, fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and Multi-Agent AI apps.
• Hands-on experience with frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, or similar orchestration tools.
• Proven ability to design and deploy on Azure Cloud (experience with AWS or GCP also valuable).
• Solid understanding of DevOps principles — CI/CD, containerization (Docker), and GitOps workflows.
• Experience delivering reliable, well-tested, and maintainable code in agile environments.
• Proven track record of building real-time pipelines and integrating AI solutions into business systems.
• Experience in semiconductor manufacturing and/or high-volume manufacturing

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

• Bachelor's or Master's with 5+ years of directly relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Data Science a closely related field

At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package.  Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position. You may be eligible for incentives based upon your role such as either an annual bonus or sales incentive.
