THE ROLE:

AMD's Data Center Firmware team is actively seeking passionate leaders who are deeply invested in server technology and eager to contribute to our mission of driving the next evolution in the datacenter. Our team is committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation by developing groundbreaking technologies, including our revolutionary hybrid multi-chip design, high-performance Infinity architecture, and robust Infinity Guard security features. We are dedicated to deploying products that anticipate and address the challenges of tomorrow in today's data-driven world. The role demands technical expertise in firmware development, a deep understanding of software/firmware test methodologies and quality assurance practices, horizontal leadership capabilities, and exceptional communication skills. THE PERSON:

We are seeking an inspirational Firmware Director to guide our Quality Assurance team in delivering our EPYC and Instinct Data Center products with unparalleled quality and reliability. As the Quality Assurance leader, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive quality assurance strategies, processes, and methodologies that ensure the integrity and functionality of our system firmware. You will oversee a global team of QA engineers, working closely with developers and validation teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall firmware quality. You understand the transformative potential of firmware, where the boundaries of possibility are constantly pushed and the impossible becomes achievable. RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for server firmware quality assurance, aligning with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Cultivate a devious tester mindset, capable of thinking creatively to identify potential vulnerabilities and weaknesses in firmware design and functionality.
  • Define and implement robust quality assurance processes, methodologies, and best practices to ensure consistent and high-quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate with firmware development teams to establish quality requirements, acceptance criteria, and test plans to deliver firmware releases on schedule.
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of QA releases and track progress towards quality goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including firmware development, product management, and customer support, to address quality issues, drive resolutions, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of firmware testing procedures, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions to drive product quality.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to QA team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role overseeing firmware quality assurance within the server industry
  • In-depth knowledge of server hardware architecture, firmware development processes, and embedded systems
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and DevOps practices.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing quality assurance strategies, processes, and tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and people skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements, optimizing efficiency, and enhancing overall product quality.

 

 

EDUCATION:

BS Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
