Compiler Development Intern (LLVM)

 

THE ROLE: 

We are looking for a dynamic, upbeat software engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor you will be part of a leading team to drive and enhance AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market.  

 

JOB DETAILS:

  • Location: Cologne, Germany.
  • Onsite/Hybrid: This role requires the student to work full time 40 hours a week, either in a hybrid or onsite throughout the duration of the co-op/intern term.
  • Duration: 6 months
  • Starting date: 10-01-2025 (provisional) (MM/DD/YY).

 

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate possesses an innovative and problem-solving mindset, has a keen eye for Software engineering development, and is diligent and passionate about Technology.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Contribute to a high-functioning feature team 
  • Collaborate closely with multiple teams to deliver key planning solutions and the technology to support them 
  • Work very closely with dev teams and Project Managers to drive results
  • You will contribute, develop and enhance our ML compiler by building custom optimizations and transformations targeted to ACAP on top of open-source technology like LLVM, MLIR
  • You will code and test compiler passes.
  • You will help to enhance our compiler build, test and development infrastructure.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • You're studying towards a Master or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • You have strong knowledge of compiler design
  • You have strong C++ programming skills
  • You are familiar with the LLVM compiler infratructure
  • You have gained first experience with either using AI accelerators or compiling to an accelerator/ASIC
  • You have strong communication and problem-solving skills, have a hands-on mentality and are able to work in a team
  • You are an EU citizen or possess a valid work permit. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
