THE ROLE:
AMD is looking for an influential software engineer who is passionate about customer facing, hands on engineering work. You will collaborate with enterprise customers to deploy, validate, and optimize GPU and HPC cluster environments.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering and possess leadership skills to drive sophisticated issues to resolution. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate and tune HPC schedulers and orchestrators (Slurm, Kubernetes/OpenShift) for large-scale GPU clusters.
- Diagnose and resolve issues across firmware/driver, Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu), networking (RDMA/InfiniBand/RoCE), and container runtimes.
- Administer data center Linux systems, including access control, storage management, and monitoring (Prometheus/Grafana).
- Implement automated build/deploy and fleet management using CI/CD and IaC tools (Jenkins/GitHub Actions, Ansible, Terraform).
- Benchmark and Validate multi-node AI/ML and HPC workloads.
- Collaborate with global customers and AMD engineering team to drive fixes, guide best practices, and publish playbooks and runbooks.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Extensive experience in HPC, GPU computing, or data center engineering supporting production clusters
Strong Linux administration and scripting skills (Python, Bash, Go is a plus) for automation and diagnostics. - Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and/or bare-metal provisioning.
- Experience with build and deployment tools (CMake, Makefile, Docker).
- Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch and VLLM is a plus.
- Expertise in performance tuning, profiling, and optimization of AI/ML workloads is a strong plus.
- Comfortable in a customer-facing, hands-on role with flexible hours to support global teams.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
