Shape Your World

At Alcoa, you will become an essential part of our purpose: to turn raw potential into real progress. The way we see it, every Alcoan is a work-shaper, team-shaper, idea-shaper, world-shaper.

This is an opportunity for you to bring your wealth of experience to the team and help shape the future of sustainability with world-changing innovations and low carbon technologies. You have the power to shape things to make them better.

About the Role:

Are you a driven and experienced Civil Project Engineer ready to take ownership of significant capital projects within a leading mining operation? Do you thrive in a collaborative environment, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget? If so, Alcoa is offering an exciting opportunity for a Civil Project Engineer to make a real impact.

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will be accountable for the complete lifecycle management and coordination of assigned capital projects, with a strong emphasis on haul road development and crucial local authorisation projects across our Huntly and Willowdale mine sites. You will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient allocation of capital funding and the successful achievement of desired business outcomes through effective project delivery.

Enjoy a family-friendly Monday to Friday roster and an extra paid leisure day off every 4 weeks, giving you more time to pursue your passions outside of work!

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead funding request drafting and review for timely approvals, and provide input on budgets, pricing, procurement, and contractor strategies, and monitoring the metrics throughout the project phases (FEL2, FEL3, Execution).

  • Collaborate with stakeholders on budgets and priorities, overseeing local authorisations and larger projects.

  • Track project progress, provide regular updates and accurate forecasting through continuous communication with Asset Owners for monthly reporting.

  • Ensure adherence to Alcoa's project delivery and authorisation processes, maintaining audit compliance across sites and identifying process improvements.

  • Hands-on management of the haul road program, including contractor management, site inspections, works forecasting, and progress claim approvals.

What's on offer:

  • Career development opportunities to pursue your passion

  • Monthly Leisure Day

  • Benefits allowance

  • Performance related bonus (variable)

  • 16 weeks paid parental leave scheme

  • Paid annual volunteer hours

  • Social and diversity focused engagement opportunities

This role offers the chance to manage a dynamic portfolio of projects, with a significant focus on the essential haul road infrastructure. While managing various projects contributes to a varied workload, you will also have the opportunity to collaborate with the Project Manager on broader capital program management tasks, ensuring a well-rounded experience. Based at Huntly Central Services, you will have exposure across all of Alcoa's Western Australian mining operations.

What you can bring to the role:

  • Ideally you will have a bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural/Civil) OR a Project or Construction Management degree with relevant industry experience.

  • Proven experience working on Alcoa sites, or previous experience in the mining, construction, or heavy industry sectors will also be highly considered.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with previous engineering supervisory experience.

  • A strong business and customer-focused perspective, with an understanding of engineering alliance relationships, and proven experience in cost tracking, budgeting, and forecasting.
