About the Role:

Have you considered this enviable lifestyle option before? We are looking for an experienced Mine Surveyor to join the Technical Services department at our Huntly Bauxite Mine. This is a rare opportunity to work on a mine site less than 100km's from Perth, where you will spend nights at home with your family. This drive-in-drive-out location offers 10.3hr workdays for a 7days-on-7days-off shift roster.

As a Mine Surveyor you will be essential to operational support by providing timely and accurate services associated with site development, production & rehabilitation. Acting as a key interface for the technical services department, this role is responsible for ensuring Department of Mines, Industry Regulation & Safety (DIMRS) compliance through best practice techniques and regulated survey standards, contributing to Environmental Health & Safety practices to help achieve an injury free workplace & reduce environmental impact.

Using a combination of traditional and new technologies including total stations, integrated Global Navigation Satellite Systems, remotely piloted aircraft (drones) and mobile laser scanners, day-to-day survey tasks include:

  • Reliable & accurate surveys of mining advances along with the set out of key development areas for consistent planning and operational guidance.

  • strong focus on rehabilitation and drainage control

  • Machine guidance support through design work, calibration & QA/QC checks.

  • Reconciliation of mining areas and volumes moved through regular reporting.

  • Detailed and timely updates of site survey records.

  • Ensure procedures are up to date & following best practices.

  • Development and implementation of latest technology and survey techniques

What you can bring to the role:

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Well-developed communication and problem-solving skills

  • Relevant and recent mine surveying experience

  • Recent exposure to Trimble GNSS technologies

  • Strong understanding of the following software packages: Surpac, Pix 4D Mapper, Global Mapper, ARC GIS

  • A Bachelor of Surveying/Advanced Diploma of Surveying

  • A CASA approved Remote Pilot Licence (RePL)

  • A current “Class C” drivers' licence

About the Location

Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world's second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa's Pinjarra and Kwinana alumina refineries.
