The Location Health & Safety Manager will manage the HS aspects of the location to ensure compliance with government and local regulations & conformance with Company EHS Policy and maintain open communications with local H&S interest groups and keep them apprised of our H&S activities and plans. The individual will lead, coach and facilitate a standardized and calibrated approach to Safety and Health system implementation, Human Performance (HP) integration and fatality prevention to mention a few. 

Job Dimensions:

  • Reports to Location Plant Manager.
  • Provides direction to location leadership, employees and contractor(s).
  • Acts as the principal contacts for the HS scope of work and execution with Operations, Finance, Engineering, Environment, Quality & management.  Participates in the site lead team activities.
  • Maintains management level relationships with other participating entities responsible for performing services relating to the HS aspects at the location, including contractors, community organizations, suppliers, sub-contractors and government agencies.
  • Maintain Emergency Plan & Coordinate Plant Emergency services.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provide focus, direction and technical expertise for the development of proactive HS plans that are consistent with Company Corporate HS Policy, vision and values and in compliance with local, and government regulations.
  • Provide communication and training for site personnel and contractors that will ensure all levels understand their roles and functions for identifying and resolving HS issues, complying with EHS regulations, and minimizing civil and criminal exposures of the plant, business unit, and corporate personnel for plant EHS events and activities.
  • Maintain awareness and pro-actively influencing emerging and existing HS laws/regulations which may impact plant operation.
  • Define, develop and maintain appropriate studies, programs, and data bases that will provide Plant and BU management with pertinent knowledge of HS impact and the basis for preventive/corrective action.
  • Preparing and submitting in a timely fashion all required reports, documents, samples and data required by agencies to meet regulatory compliance obligations, including reports for signature by the appropriate signatory authority.
  • Represent the plant on HS matters as appropriate while maintaining cordial and credible relationships with legislative/regulatory agencies, local environmental interest groups and employees.
  • Participates actively in investigation of HS incidents.
  • Provides oversight of location Internal Audit process.
  • Maintains and improves HS management system.
  • Develops and delivers necessary HS training as required.
  • Acts as a coach and develops other HS team members, manages their work across the plant.
  • Act as main contact of the Authorities in regard to Emergency Plan and Inspections. Coordinate Plant Emergency services & activities required by Emergency Plan.

Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in HS or engineering.
  • Qualified Health & Safety Professional as per Spanish Legislation.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in in health and safety Area & 5 years in similar position in an Industrial environment.
  • Must be fluent in Spanish and English.
