We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager for our two mining operations where you will enjoy a strong blend between strategic and tactical activities.

In joining our senior mine leadership team, you will develop and lead a multidisciplinary Health, Safety and Emergency Response Department through recruiting, appraisal, coaching, training, development, and motivation, to build a high performing culture delivering excellence through others.

You will provide, drive, and support the effective implementation of management systems, strategies, and initiatives to ensure all Health, Safety and Emergency Response objectives and targets are met. In addition, providing operational safety guidance, diligence, consistency and discipline to location operational leaders and employees is imperative to the role.

Key activities include:

  • Design, implement and manage health, safety and emergency management systems, programs and policies in compliance with WHS legislation.

  • Audit health, safety and emergency management performance against standards and legislation

  • Support the identification and development of health and safety improvement strategies together with relevant incident prevention methods and techniques.

  • Provide strategic and operational advice to the Senior Site Executive to ensure adequate training and development is achieved in safety critical roles.

  • Implementation of the Health & Safety management strategies and frameworks for critical risk control management.

  • Implement monitoring systems and participate in organisational review, change management and incident investigation.

  • Identify and initiate localised Fatality Prevention initiatives and influence Location/Department Leaders to implement.

  • Perform localised Emergency response management, including Emergency Response teams, first responder medical teams and liaison with other services (internal and external) providing firefighting, rescue and emergency treatment and business continuity.

  • Oversee the delivery of Site Security Services, including but not limited to; Site Access control, property security, initial situational response and 24/7 monitoring.

What you can bring to the role:

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • A degree in Health and Safety or equivalent.

  • Track record of leading and developing others and achieving high performance through others.

  • Ability to engage and collaborate across functions and operations to drive initiatives and deliver results.

  • Extensive knowledge of WHS Legislation and Mine Safety Management Systems

  • Experience in Critical Risk Management and Human Performance.

  • Extensive operations experience in a Health & Safety management role.

  • Strong influencing skills, agility, and awareness to positively drive impactful change for the safety of our employees and contractors across multiple sites.

  • Open cut mining experience is an advantage
