About the Role:
In response to the evolving global tailings standards and the demand for improved safety and governance, Alcoa is seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to assume the role of Global Impoundments Director. This role is critical in ensuring the safety, compliance, and effective management of Alcoa's impoundments worldwide.
In this pivotal position you will play an influential role in our tailings management across our 161 impoundments with greatest focus on Brazil, Spain and Western Australia.
Managing a diverse team of geotechnical experts across our global locations, your key responsibilities with include:
- Ensuring all Alcoa impoundments are safe to operate and comply with Alcoa Impoundment Standards, GISTM, ICMM requirements, and local regulations.
- As the Accountable Executive for operational impoundments, communicate impoundment risks to the Alcoa Board, Executive Team, Joint Venture Partners, and impoundment locations.
- Representing Alcoa on the ICMM Tailings Working Group and provide recommendations on tailings commitments, and maintaining the global impoundment inventory database.
- Leading governance, standards, and non-capex project delivery and overseeing the annual independent third-party inspections and insurance presentations.
- Developing and delivering a 25-year Master Plan for residue storage and bauxite mine impoundments; and
- Providing expertise on impoundment monitoring systems, governance processes, and technology.

What you can bring to the role:
To be part of our ongoing success, we are seeking someone with:
- An Engineering Degree (Geotechnical and/or tailings experience preferred) is a must, with.
- Post Graduate qualifications in Business highly desirable.
- Well developed written and verbal English language skills are required, due to the global scope of this role.
- Extensive experience in tailings management, teamed with proven leadership capability and the ability to communicate effectively with the Executive team and Board.
- With previous global experience, you will have a highly collaborative and inclusive approach, with the ability to influence and engage both internal and external stakeholders.
- A track record in delivering results through others and developing high performing teams.

Esta função é crítica para garantir segurança, conformidade e gestão eficaz das barragens da Alcoa em todo o mundo. Nesta posição, você desempenhará um papel influente na gestão de rejeitos em nossas 161 barragens, com maior foco no Brasil, Espanha e Austrália Ocidental. Gerenciando uma equipe diversificada de especialistas geotécnicos em nossas operações, suas principais responsabilidades incluirão:
- Garantir que todas as barragens da Alcoa sejam seguras para operar e estejam em conformidade com os Padrões de Barragens da Alcoa, GISTM, requisitos do ICMM e regulamentações locais.
- Como Executivo Responsável pelas barragens operacionais, comunicar os riscos das barragens ao Board da Alcoa, Time Executivo, Parceiros de Joint Venture e localidades das barragens.
- Representar a Alcoa no Grupo de Trabalho de Rejeitos do ICMM e fornecer recomendações sobre compromissos com rejeitos, além de manter o banco de dados global de inventário de barragens.
- Liderar a governança, padrões e entrega de projetos não-capex, supervisionando as inspeções anuais de terceiros e apresentações sobre seguros.
- Desenvolver e entregar um Plano Diretor de 25 anos para armazenamento de resíduos e barragens de minas de bauxita;
- Fornecer expertise em sistemas de monitoramento de barragens, processos de governança e tecnologia.

O que você pode trazer para a função:
Para fazer parte do nosso sucesso contínuo, estamos buscando alguém com:
- Graduação em Engenharia (com experiência em Geotecnia e/ou rejeitos) é essencial; desejável Pós-Graduação.
- Habilidades bem desenvolvidas de escrita e comunicação verbal em inglês são necessárias, devido ao escopo global desta função.
- Experiência extensa em gestão de rejeitos, combinada com capacidade comprovada de liderança e habilidade para se comunicar efetivamente com o time executivo e o Board.
- Com experiência global anterior, você terá uma abordagem altamente colaborativa e inclusiva, com a capacidade de influenciar e engajar stakeholders internos e externos.
- Histórico de entrega de resultados através de outros e desenvolvimento de equipes de alto desempenho.
