Reporting to the subsidiary Controller, the Senior Accountant is a hands-on role providing problem solving and accounting support to major operational functions for several Fluid Power subsidiary companies. Responsibilities include general accounting, customer credit and collections, month end closings, and reconciliations of various GL accounts. This position will also support quarterly business review analyses, as well as assist with annual budgeting processes. The ideal candidate enjoys working collaboratively with business leaders, has a high attention to detail, ability to trouble shoot and problem solve with internal team members, customers, vendors, and drive process efficiencies.
Responsibilities:
- Heavy assistance with month-end closings, including calculation and posting of various journal entries relating to accounts receivable, inventory, accounts payable, accrued expenses, as assigned.
- Analysis and reconciliation of various GL accounts to ensure accuracy of month-end balances, including detailed reviews of supporting subledgers for accuracy
- Ensure accurate coding and balancing of expense payments through T&E system
- Support of / preparation of sales and use tax filings
- Support of / preparation of vendor rebate filings and reconciliations
- Ensure accurate balancing of intercompany receivables and payables
- Perform variance analyses and provide guidance as to root cause and corrective measures
- Support of annual budgeting process, particularly payroll-related analyses and projections
- Coordinate more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of accounting team or other departments
- Back up accounts receivable associates when needed
- Back up accounts payable associates when needed
- Monitor COD account payments and ensure accurate postings
- Adherence to company policies and procedures, including internal controls
- Ad hoc analyses and special projects
Qualifications:
- Minimum of four years of relevant experience in general accounting
- Knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, policies and procedures reflective of distribution sector preferred
- High attention to detail
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent prioritization of workload, ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
- Experience with ERP automated accounting systems (Accounts Payable 3-way match, EDI transaction processing and high-volume processing).
- Intermediate Excel skills
