Job Summary  

The Travel Industrial Injury Prevention Specialist (IIPS), Rapid Response is responsible for traveling to our Onsite Clients at various locations to assist with urgent staffing needs by providing coverage for the client according to the Statement of Work (SOW). The IIPS is responsible for covering staff absences, working as the interim IIPS until permanent staffing is secured, and assisting with new implementations. This includes providing direct service delivery as outlined in the SOW within clinical scope. The IIPS will support development of injury prevention, health, and wellness programs in various settings and quality assurance & control processes.

This position requires 70% travel.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for providing fill-in onsite injury prevention, ergonomics, and wellness services to the extent possible within applicable clinical and state licensure guidelines. This includes but is not limited to:
    1. Provide triage, first-aid, education and/or escalation of care if needed.
    2. Facilitate on-going communication with all parties involved in managing an injury case.
    3. Support the injured employee, monitor medical care, promote efficient reporting, and participate in accident investigation.
    4. Assist in finding temporarily modified work in compliance with physical restrictions.
    5. Help employees prevent repetitive, cumulative and overuse type musculoskeletal injuries and illnesses.
    6. Conduct ergonomic analyses to provide recommendations on vehicle set up, work posture, tool use, and workstation modifications.
    7. Provide on-the-job education and coaching to help workers achieve and maintain physical resilience through optimizing body mechanics and postural habits.
    8. Assist employees in achieving sustained lifestyle improvements in areas such as nutritional health, physical fitness, and stress management.
    9. Address and mitigate risks related to employees' total health, therefore reducing the risk of job-related injuries and illnesses.
    10. Develop job-specific agility routines and programs to be implemented in a preventative method a.k.a. Work Hardening.
    11. Minimize risk of injury through awareness, education, ergonomic recommendations, and first aid.
    12. Proactively engage with employees at their work location.
    13. Maintain records of triage, ergonomic assessment, first-aid care, and education provided.
    14. Gain full understanding of the site operations, workflow, processes, and employees to make recommendations for preventing musculoskeletal injuries from occurring.
    15. Leverage technology available to support total worker health.
  2. Collaborate in operations of Prevention Services.
    1. Partners with program operations:
      1. Collaborates with IAP Leadership to complete quality assurance audits and deliver on standard reporting to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
    2. Develops and performs consulting service delivery as assigned.
  3. Work in partnership with other WorkCare service lines (Wellness, Injury Care, Onsite Clinics, etc.).
  4. Perform additional duties and assume additional responsibilities as identified by manager for the efficient operation of WorkCare.


Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Graduate of accredited healthcare education program.
  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or related field.  
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience.
  • Must hold CPR/First Aid certification. 
  • Medical professional license or certification highly recommended. 
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation method.
  • Ability to travel up to 70%.

Preferred:

  • Graduate of accredited CAATE athletic training education program.
  • Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field. 
  • At least five (5) years professional experience with at least two (2) years occupational health experience. 
  • Ergonomics experience and certification.
  • Experience in quality assurance, wellness, and program start up.
  • Experience with extended travel.

Computer Skills

  • Proficient in Windows operating system environment, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and learn other software as needed.

 

Physical Demands

  • Ability to walk long distances – 2+ miles per shift while onsite.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk. 
  • Bending, stretching, and the ability to frequently get in and out of a vehicle.
  • Ability to work under stressful, sometimes unpredictable situations.  
  • Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard and mouse. 
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel and/or crouch.
  • On rare occasions may be required to perform emergency care. 
  • Ability to operate motor vehicle.
  • Ability to travel long distances for extended periods of time.

 

Work Environment

  • Frequent indoor, office, manufacturing, medical clinic environment conditions.
  • Potential for frequent outdoor, work environment conditions.
  • May be required to work in loud environments with proper personal protective equipment as necessary.
  • At home work environment must be free from background noise and distraction.
  • At home set up must meet all Company IT, privacy, and safety requirements.
  • Travel environments. 
  • The noise level is usually moderate.   
  • Air quality is good and temperature is controlled.  

 

This position has an annual salary range of $85,000 - $95,000 annually. Final compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and qualifications.
