Job Summary  

We are looking for a per diem Occupational Health Nurse to support medical and safety efforts at large scale construction site located in Boise, ID. This project is anticipated to last multiple years with exact timing to be determined by client requirements. 

The Occupational Health Nurse employs best practices that require early intervention and the setting of realistic expectations for disability duration, return-to-work, and return to functionality. Care coordination is a collaborative process that promotes quality of health care, client empowerment, and cost containment by supporting proactive intervention and reducing redundancies.

The Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for providing injury and illness case management and assisting with other occupational and environmental health services, as needed, while maintaining a professional and patient centered approach in an occupational setting. Travel to participate in Company initiatives can be supported as needed. 

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Provides medical care to clinic patients as requested/needed, and within the RN scope of practice, following treatment care guidelines set forth by the occupational health director.  
  • Evaluation, treatment, and case management of occupational illnesses and injuries and referring cases to providers 
  • Assist providers in managing, coordinating, documentation of Workers Comp claims & communicates with Client's WC claims carrier as needed.  
  • Maintain Electronic Medical Record (EMR- Cority) and ensures complete & accurate documentation  
  • Performs regulatory testing including but not limited to: Respiratory medical evaluation, spirometry, audiometry, vision tests, urine test, EKG, immunizations, blood draws, stress test, MicroFit, heat stress 
  • May perform First Aid, CPR, AED, and other training as necessary 
  • Assist with Outage scheduling 
  • May be assigned to the night shift or weekend work during the outage 
  • Provides preventive health education to employees as needed within scope of practice. 
  • Maintains clinic utilization reports - clinic encounters, first aid injuries, Workers' Compensation claims, supply inventory, equipment calibration & inventory 
  • Participates in general flow of clinic operations (answers phones, checks email, medical records, scheduling, filing, copying charts, traffic control). 
  • Maintain clinic's medical & office supplies in collaboration with ancillary staff  
  • Maintains communication with the Clinic Medical Director, Account manager, Team Lead & client as necessary 
  • Ensures that employees have appropriate return-to-work clearances. 
  • Coordinates employee exams &medical surveillance  
  • Other duties as assigned or those duties that may be required as management deems necessary. 


Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a valid Idaho RN license 
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing is highly preferred 
  • Must hold current BLS certification 
  • 5–7 years RN experience required 
  • 2-3 years' experience in a urgent care, emergency department or occupational health setting preferred
  • Certification in Occupational Health, preferred

Computer Skills

  • Must be competent in the Windows operating system environment, Adobe Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and learn other software as needed.

 

Physical Demands: 

  • Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk.
  • Ability to work under stressful, sometimes unpredictable situations. 
  • Manual dexterity required for use of handling medical equipment, performing procedures, computer keyboard; Use hands/fingers to handle, control, or fell objects, tools, or controls. 
  • Required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch; Some bending and stretching could be required. 
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Ability to kneel and perform chest compressions for CPR life saving measures. 
  • Require daily walk to & from parking lot to clinic; may need to navigate uneven walkways and terrain due to construction site. 
  • May drive emergency vehicle within the site when responding to an accident. 

 

Work Environment: 

  • Construction project location. 
  • Clinic is located within the protected/regulated area. 
  • Clinic: Mainly indoor, office/clinic conditions; noise level is usually moderate; air quality is good, and temperature is controlled. 

 

Final compensation offered depends on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
