Position Reports To: Radiology & Imaging Services Manager

Department Description

Wilson Health's Radiology and Imaging Services Department performs diagnostic tests to support accurate and timely patient diagnoses. The department utilizes a wide range of advanced imaging technologies including CT, MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, and more. These services allow providers to obtain detailed internal images while minimizing the need for invasive procedures. The department is staffed by highly trained radiology professionals and board-certified radiologists, with imaging supported by a state-of-the-art Picture Archive Communication System (PACS) for efficient image access and consultation.

Job Summary

The Student Radiology Technologist assists technologists in performing diagnostic imaging procedures and supports daily department operations. This role provides hands-on experience in a clinical setting while working under the supervision of a registered Radiology Technologist. The patient population may include pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Radiology Technologists in the performance of diagnostic imaging procedures
  • Operate x-ray equipment under appropriate supervision
  • Position patients and perform basic patient assessments related to imaging procedures
  • Prepare radiology rooms, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Upload and manage imaging in PACS and utilize HIS/RIS systems as needed
  • Perform general x-ray procedures within scope as defined by the Ohio Department of Health
  • Maintain compliance with all safety, regulatory, and departmental guidelines
  • Provide patient-centered care that promotes safety, dignity, and comfort
  • Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of the department
Qualifications
  • Completion of the first year of an accredited Radiologic Technology program and currently enrolled in the second year
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team-based environment
  • Basic understanding of patient care and imaging principles

Certifications:

  • GXMO (General X-ray Machine Operator) Certification required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Additional Requirements
  • A registered Radiology Technologist must be available on-site and responsible for supervision at all times
  • May not independently perform fluoroscopy, portable exams, or surgical imaging procedures
  • Upon graduation, must obtain ARRT (R) certification within 6 months
  • May remain in the Student role for up to 18 months total
