Employment Status: Full-Time

Hours: 36 hours weekly (72 hours bi-weekly)

Shift: 3rd shift (6:00 PM - 6:00 AM) every 3rd weekend and every 3rd holiday

Position Reports To: Emergency Department Manager

 

Department Description

The Emergency Department at Wilson Health provides rapid, high-quality care to patients across all age groups — from neonates to geriatric patients. As an Emergency Department RN, you are a key member of the team, performing assessments, triage, and ongoing care to ensure patient safety and positive outcomes. You collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and support staff to deliver efficient, compassionate, and evidence-based care.

 

Job Summary

The Emergency Department RN provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to ill, injured, convalescent, and disabled patients. You perform accurate triage, formulate and implement individualized plans of care, and engage patients and families in illness and injury prevention. You maintain professional standards of practice, uphold ethical principles, and foster a safe, collaborative, and respectful environment for patients and staff. You serve as a resource and support for the ED team while ensuring smooth workflow and excellent patient outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate and perform triage and ongoing assessment of patients' physical and psychosocial needs
  • Register patients and complete quick registration processes, including obtaining demographics and preparing ID bands
  • Formulate and implement comprehensive nursing care plans for Emergency Department patients
  • Provide education and guidance to patients and families regarding illness and injury prevention
  • Maintain open and timely communication with patients, families, physicians, and team members
  • Adhere to professional standards and engage in continuing education to maintain competency
  • Demonstrate ethical, compassionate, and patient-centered care for all patient populations
  • Provide functional direction to licensed practical nurses, patient care technicians, and clerical staff as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility

 

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Current R.N. license in the State of Ohio
  • Current BLS certification; ACLS certification required within one year of hire
  • PALS and TNCC certifications required within two years of hire
  • Strong assessment, triage, and patient care skills across multiple age groups
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to perform essential functions with reasonable accommodations as needed
