Manages a staff which may include Security, Parking, Shuttle, Dispatch, Landscaping, Ambassador, and/or Switchboard. Works to ensure a safe environment for all patients, visitors, and employees. Handles emergency and crisis situations in tandem with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field.

2. State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas

EXPERIENCE:

1. Five (5) years' experience in security environment, with three (3) years in a supervisory role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Public Administration, Hospital Administration.

2. Graduation from an accredited Federal, State, or Local Law Enforcement or Corrections Academy.

2. Current Instructor certifications for Defensive Tactics, OC, Taser OR ability to obtain.

3. CPR Certification.

4. CPI/AVADE training.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Five (5) years supervisory experience in a healthcare security environment.

2. Previous experience with integrated  alarm and security systems.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.  They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties. 1. Interviews, selects, directs departmental training and orientation, assigns departmental staff to meet facility needs, conducts performance appraisals, and develops and maintains standards for criteria-based position descriptions, competencies and performance appraisals.

2. Provides strategic and operational direction to all levels of leadership regarding organizational security including but not limited to access control, cctv/surveillance systems, risk assessments, officer support, workplace violence mitigation, security reporting, parking and traffic guidance, public event management, building access and security, signage, employee and volunteer identification badge management, training programs, investigation and evidence management, emergency notifications, event debriefings.

3. Encourages professional development of departmental personnel through in-service education and external education programs. Reviews and maintains all department training records and ensures compliance with training programs and policies.

4. Monitors all pertinent fiscal data, volumes of service and statistical indicators to ensure budget compliance and serve as a guide for ongoing decision-making. Works with direct reports to manage established budgets.

5. Maintains and reports departmental information and statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes meeting the required time standards.

6. Develops, implements, maintains and interprets to staff, and when appropriate to others, policies, procedures, standards of practice for the department regarding budget and financial issues.

7. Follows hospital, local, state and federal guidelines for ensuring safe environment for workers, patients and public.  Maintains and monitors staff compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures for safety and security.

8. Assures regulatory compliance for Security's Environment of Care activities to ensure compliance with Life Safety codes, Workplace Violence Standards, and other applicable Joint commission and OHFLAC requirements.

9. Handles emergency and crisis situations effectively and efficiently, up to and including armed response.

10. Develops and implements processes to assess and improve the services provided and compliance with regulatory requirements.  Coordinates regulatory agency surveys and inspections of facility.  Reports results to appropriate administrative levels.

11. Inspects/adjusts all security systems to ensure they are working properly.

12. Responsible for Fleet Management program and key management for all facilities. Directs employee, special event, and inclement weather transportation services through internal shuttles and other vehicles/services as needed, to assure efficient, secure, safe, and friendly service.

13. Oversees central dispatch program for buildings and clinics including alarm and system monitoring, paging system, dispatch calls for security, facilities, and planning/design/construction, lock and key management.

14. Actively serves as a leader, consultant, resource, and authority on the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to hospital and campus security and public impressions. Supports or participates in various hospital and system committee and performance improvement activities as appointed.

15. May oversee all aspects of property landscaping including design, lawn, shrub and tree maintenance, parking lot and garage maintenance, snow and ice removal, exterior eating facilities and debris control through direction of internal management and sub-contracted services.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office.

2. Must possess good communication and organizational skills.

3. Knowledge of hospital Security, Public Safety, Customer Services, and Global Systems

4. Knowledge of a Security and Risk Assessment methods to ensure a secure environment.
