Description
The Research Associate will collaborate with neuroscientists, engineers, and clinicians to develop and test biomedical devices for eventual deployment as clinical medical therapy devices. Responsibilities include contributing to project-based teams of biomedical engineers and researchers to develop and test new biomedical devices and techniques and providing technical leadership during the design and testing of pre-clinical and clinical medical therapy devices. The candidate is expected to contribute to all stages of the research, including hardware and software development; benchtop model and prototype construction; evaluation of equipment safety and efficacy; experimental design; regulatory compliance; coordination with pre-clinical and clinical researchers, including supervising staff, graduate and undergraduate students; project management; data collection, analyzing data, preparation of written documentation, and disseminating results.
Minimum Education and Experience
Ph.D in a related field.
Preferred Education and Experience
Candidates are expected to have a PhD related to neuroscience, biomedical engineering, physical rehabilitation science or similar disciplines. Preferred applicants will have research experience in neurophysiology systems, clinical device design, and/or implantable materials development, strong written and oral communication skills, and an ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

The position requires regular meetings with other Center researchers and will include assisting in creating and maintaining constructive collaborations with outside researchers.
Salary will be based on the National Institutes of Health's guidelines for National Research Service Awards and will reflect the candidate's experience related to the job requirements.
